My Secret Weapon in Bed — Try it Out
An amazing bedroom technique to get answers to problems you're facing. No, it's not sex-related sorry to disappoint.
Let’s cut straight to the chase — this piece isn't about sex.
There are plenty of articles on sex in Medium.
This piece is about a powerful psychological technique that I learned from Joseph Murray in his classic book — The Power of Your Subconscious Mind.
Many influential people throughout history have apparently used this technique — Carl Jung, William James, Benjamin Franklin, Mark Twain, and Robert Louis Stevenson to name a few.
So What is this Amazing Bedroom Technique?
Forget the Kamasutra this technique allows you to access your subconscious mind the part of your mind that stores all programming, memories, and beliefs through a simple question that you ask it prior to sleeping.
You must be in bed starting to feel sleepy in order for the technique to work best.
This is because at this time your conscious mind with all its chatter is less active as it's getting ready to prepare for sleep.
But your subconscious mind is active, in fact very active as it never sleeps and when your conscious is less active it's able to do its work better.
So it's just before drifting off to sleep is the perfect time to get in touch with your subconscious mind and ask for its guidance.
A powerful way of doing this is by asking it the following question (gently out loud or even quietly in your mind):
“Subconscious mind please show me what it is I need to know about …….” insert your problem/issue.
or you could tweak it a bit to something like:
“ Subconscious mind I need your help in showing me what it is I need to know about…….” insert your problem/issue here.
Best to ask just one thing, not a million things, or else it gets too overloaded, and your less likely to get a clear answer.
What happens from here after you've asked your question is nothing short of a miracle I have found.
Your subconscious mind never sleeps as mentioned and so will get to work on coming up with an answer to your problem/issue.
It could come in a dream or as a hunch, or even a feeling upon first waking up or even later during your day.
Please be patient if it doesn’t work immediately. You must try it a few times.
Just like with everything in life you cant expect an immediate response to trying something just once.
You got to practice it a few times.
I ask that you keep an open mind with this.
If you are highly critical and skeptical it's less likely to work for you as it will block the answer.
Don’t just dismiss this as some mumbo jumbo nonsense. This stuff works!
Just trust in the process and stay open and receptive to receiving an answer.
The great thing with this technique I have personally found is that It’s generally a fairly quick process unlike so many other things in life.
I have seen results within a few days, sometimes even a day.
Please don’t force an answer to appear.
Instead, ask your question, be patient and trust that it will come.
Why Bedtime and Why the Subconscious?
Your subconscious mind as previously mentioned is most susceptible to this type of suggestion just before going to sleep as it never sleeps.
Whilst your conscious mind sleeps, your subconscious doesn’t, so when a question is posed to it, it gets to work on finding an answer.
During your waking hours, your conscious mind is active and full of chatter so it's incredibly hard for the subconscious to work out an answer.
It can happen of course like when you're in the shower or during moments of quiet. Many people do experience powerful insights in these settings.
But for the most part during your waking hours, your mind is cluttered with information making it hard for your subconscious mind to get through.
At night and even in during the early morning you are more ‘empty’ and so the subconscious can get to work better and also get through you.
Remember your subconscious mind works at a much deeper level than your conscious mind.
Most of us dont fully grasp the amazing power that lies in the subconscious mind.
I highly encourage you to read The Power of Your Subconscious Mind to get a better understanding of this amazing faculty.
If you learn to harness and use it the right way it will change your life for the better.
“ Your subconscious mind is all-wise and knows the answers to all questions” Joseph Murray
Still Not Convinced Yet? Look at the Evidence
Aside from my own experience of using this technique to get answers to problems or issues countless times here are some examples of famous people that have used this technique:
- Scientists like Fredrich von Stradonitz, and Nikola Tesla have all turned their problems in regard to their work to their subconscious minds prior to sleep.
- Robert Louis Stevenson claimed that a whole chapter of his book Across the Plains came to him in his sleep after he turned over his problem (being stuck for inspiration) to his subconscious mind.
- Mark Twain claimed that many of his plots and stories came to him during sleep after asking his subconscious ‘to figure it out’.
- Carl Jung attributed a lot of his content in The Red book (ideas) to his subconscious mind prior to sleep.
There are many other examples but for brevity’s sake, I have just kept to these.
Just like with everything I write I encourage you to try out things for yourself not to just believe what I say.
I will leave you with this final thought:
Your subconscious mind is the control room of your mind and is responsible for 95% of your behaviors and even your creativity and overall problem-solving ability.
So by turning over your problems to it, you will find you have an invisible but powerful ally that will help and guide you through life.
Perhaps even consider giving it a name to help you connect with it even more.
You don’t need a hypnotist, psychologist, or psychiatrist to access this power or any special skills.
It's available to you right now 365 days of the year. Start using it through this fascinating technique presented here and start seeing results.
