Get Addicted To Jigsaws If You Want To Solve Problems & Stay Motivated
I am going to confess. I have a secret addiction. It’s not drugs, I don’t have to ingest anything to get a high, although I do get lost in time when I’m fully immersed in my secret addiction.
Okay I’m going to confess. Here goes: I am a secret jigsaw addict. 😂😱😱😱
Yep you heard me!
I am a secret jigsaw addict. Why? Well seriously there are worse things to do in life! I can say that with certainty because I am a person who has actually lived and made mistakes over the course of my life and so yeah it’s not such a bad addiction. On a very personal note I just love the challenge of a good jigsaw.
To me a good jigsaw is like life.
You get given all the pieces you need to create a perfect picture but even though you have all the pieces and a rough idea about how to fit them together it’s never as easy as you think it’s going to be and sometimes you just wanna give up and walk away.
If you’re lucky you get the border done smoothly. It can be tricky because one wrong piece here will screw up the puzzle completely and it’s not always obvious that the foundation is wrong. You might think that everything is nicely put together but as you make more progress you begin to see that there’s a problem. Things just aren’t fitting together the way they should.
Getting The Foundations Right
Just like real life it’s not always easy to spot the problem. But one thing is certain: If your foundations are wrong, sooner or later you’re going to have massive challenges. Things just wont flow, no matter how hard you try to force them to gel together, there will always be that disconnect and a feeling that something isn’t right. Until you retrace your steps and examine everything really closely to see how and where you went wrong, you can’t solve the problem. This isn’t a task for wimps. You have to prepare yourself mentally and emotionally to take massive action and break things apart so you can fix your foundations once and for all.
It’s never easy when you have to make changes. You are forced into accepting that you made a mistake. You’ve wasted your precious time and energy going down the wrong path and now you have to spend more time and emotional energy trying to fix it. That’s not a great feeling. Which is why it’s so tempting to give up and walk away. Only a person on a hero’s journey will take the time to examine everything that they have built their life on and then pause so they can come to terms with the fact that they screwed up and now only a radical intervention and reexamination of their roots will make things right.
A State OF Bliss
Sometimes there are sections of a puzzle that are super easy. You are so in the flow that you experience a rapture of bliss. You can smile, relax and breathe as you see things coming together nicely. You become consumed by the way things just slide together, smiling and laughing inside as you click, click, click each pieces together. You’re in a perfect state of flow and on top of the world. Everything is going your way.
The Hard Part
The next minute you hit a really hard part and nothing seems to work. You no longer have cohesion. At this point you start to lose traction, you get frustrated 🤬 as nothing flows. Everything is hard work and you can’t find your blissful flow state. The pieces just don’t match and you cant work out how they all fit together.
You want to give up but you keep going. It’s a long process and it’s necessary to take breaks and walk away. when you come back you look at it with fresh eyes. You start to realise how far you have come and you see the bigger picture and notice connections and patterns slowly piece by piece you begin to regain traction and somehow it starts to come together again.
The final part is always the hardest. I like to think of it as the last push to the summit. Just like in real life you can be so close to the finish but it’s hard to stay motivated and make it to the finish line.
You want everything to fit together so badly but it doesn’t because maybe your foundations weren’t right and you have to undo and start some of it again. You want to race ahead like the hare 🐇 who raced the tortoise (or turtle as many non native speakers say) but you can’t. The tortoise always wins. 🐢🏆🐇 Right now I’m almost at the finish line. Will I finish? Or will I quit? What do you think comment below.😍👍
Let me know what you think. I would love to hear from you.
