My Progress After 20 Days On Medium — The Best Way To Earn Online?
I’ve been posting on Medium now for about 20 days. During this time, I have published 15 articles with the aim of guiding young men through self-improvement.
When I discovered Medium, it stood out to me as an exciting opportunity to make money online. In this article, I want to share my experience over the last 20 days and whether I foresee it being a viable replacement for a traditional 9–5 job.
See, I have never been able to accept the idea of getting a regular job. Ever since I was young, I always wanted to live on my own terms. Go wherever I want, work whenever I want, meet whoever I want.
I’ve always wanted a sense of control and freedom in my life. Spending years in school just to transition into a job where I would be at the mercy of someone else didn’t sit right with me.
Instead, a way to make a living from my laptop sounded perfect to me. Especially one in which I was not reliant on anybody else to tell me when and how much I must work.
It meant that I could work from wherever I wanted. This was probably the biggest advantage for me.
I have become obsessed with the idea of traveling the world. I have been fortunate to grow up in a family that had the means to travel quite frequently. I have witnessed so many beautiful cultures, landscapes, and lifestyles.
This has only fueled my desire to explore the parts of the world I have not yet seen.
Better yet, through the internet, you have the ability to make far more money, far quicker than most traditional jobs.
So, of all the methods of making money online, why medium? Well, it’s quite simple.
Medium is a platform that allows me to share my passion for self-improvement while paying me as soon as I publish my first post.
This aspect of Medium is very unique compared to other platforms, such as YouTube, which require you to meet certain criteria to monetize your content.
Enough about why Medium. How have I faired after my first 20 days?
Here are my results:

- $4.19 Made
Okay, so those aren’t mind-blowing numbers by any means; in fact, they might look quite pitiful. But I don't see it like that.
See results don’t come linearly. Instead, they are exponential.
$6.29 a month — assuming I earn at the same rate as my first 20 days - is hardly enough to pay for a new book, let alone support my digital nomad dream lifestyle.
But that’s the thing: I do not expect to make $4.19 in my next 20 days. I expect it to be far higher.
Yes, 15 articles for less than 5 bucks sounds like a lot of work for hardly anything, but success is not built overnight.
As I accumulate more followers, reads, claps, and views, my income will also rise exponentially.
What this has proven to me is that making money through the internet is possible.
And one more thing. I have been on vacation for the past two weeks. That's 14 out of the 20 days that I have been on medium. While I was soaking up the sun, people were viewing my medium articles and I was making money (albeit very little).
These past 20 days have filled me with great optimism for the future and my dreams of traveling while earning a living. As long as you keep putting effort into something you are passionate about, it is only a matter of time before results follow.
