Summary

The author plans to write short-form pieces on Medium during their exam period to avoid a complete hiatus.

Abstract

The author has exams starting from the 26th of the next month and continuing through mid-May, which will limit their ability to write on Medium. They initially planned to take a complete month-and-a-half break from the platform but decided against it. Instead, they plan to post a lot of short-form pieces and only a few 3- or 5-minutes read. This will give them enough time for their preparations without hindering them. The author also mentions three reasons for this decision: to avoid a decrease in their stats, to repurpose some of their old articles, and to learn the art of saying more in fewer words. They hope to write a short form a day, which would be enough sample size for them to make sense of the short-form writing space on Medium.

My Plans for April—The Best of Both Worlds

I hope it’ll work!

Source

With a quarter of the year coming to an end, we are at the brink of welcoming the Awesome April.

Talking about my Medium journey: it’s going awesome. Thanks for your love and support. 🙏☺️🔥🌟

But I won’t be able to write much on the platform for April and up to mid-May.

Why?

Because I’ve exams starting from the 26th of the next month. And it will continue through mid-May. May 18 to be exact. (Ha, class 10th boards hai mere👀; you can wish me luck!)

At first, I decided to take a complete month-and-a-half break from the platform. But after giving this matter some thought, I came up with a plan.

So I won’t be going on a complete hiatus.

Instead, I’d be posting a lot of short-form pieces.

And only a few 3- or 5-minutes read. Like once in a week.

This would give me enough time for my preparations (without hindering them in any way, at all).

There are three more reasons I have planned to do so:

1. Last time, I didn’t write anything for two months straight—in November and December. And I know what happened. Read this.

And I don’t want that to happen again.

2. This would allow me to repurpose some of my old articles and at the same time, I can learn the art of saying more in fewer words.

I can give myself some space to expand on the topics I have written a while ago.

3. Ideally, I want to write a short form a day. So there would be 30 short-form articles by the end of April.

That would be, I think, enough sample size for me to make sense of the short-form writing space on Medium—reach, engagement, value addition, etc.

So in one way, it’d be the best of both worlds.

From the perspective of Medium: well, I won’t be disappearing. And Medium’s algorithm would be happy about it.

And from the perspective of my exams: its preparations would go on without any interruptions.

I hope it’ll be a fun little journey—and I can expect you aboard. 🚀🚀🚀

I will also be active on my new Twitter account. At the time of writing, it has 10 followers and it’d mean the world to me if you fancy checking it out.

I promise you’ll find some value out of it. ☺️🌟 Thanks for sticking around. You da best! ❤️
