Movies and TV Shows I have saved in my Media Library and why these are worthy of rewatches!

Mulan 2020
I remember the good old days when I was a kid and I had Mulan VHS in my hands. I slowly opened it and placed it in the VHS player. I was super excited about the movie night cause my parents have movie nights where they bring home some well classic Disney movies.
I remember Bambi when I was a kid it was I believe one of the first Disney movies I ever seen and it was pretty shocking for me to watch. I fell in love with the deer and learned how humanity can be cruel when it comes to animals. Of course, I didn’t know that when I was a kid. I watched The Lion King and pretty much all the Disney classics until for the first time. I saw Mulan! I was pretty amazed! I had never seen people like me in a Disney movie. Asians were considered outsiders back when I grew up and being an Asian-American I was well considered outside the norm. However, I was blessed and had American friends from Whites, African Americans, and others. They were like my brothers and sisters and we were truly tight. So, seeing Mulan for the first time was shocking and I was so happy to finally see Asians showing up on TV.
A few years went by and Mulan 2 came out and I was pretty excited about that as well. The story about Mulan and her bravery was pretty inspiring. Disney was not only bold enough to put Asians on the screen but also portray women as heroines and even a savior of a nation. It was a new concept that my boy mind didn’t understand. But, all I could think of was “Wow, Mulan is epic and awesome!”
So, now you probably know why I was ecstatic when Mulan live-action was coming out. I was worried it would be far from the original story and I would be upset and soured. I didn’t want my high expectations to be crushed so I took the leap of faith and watched the movie. Seeing this movie is on my media watch list you probably can guess I was happy about the movie and the story it holds. All the actors and actresses were amazing and they picked the perfect people to cast! Liu Yifei was the perfect Mulan and Yoson An was the perfect Chen. Also, I was super thrilled they cast Donnie Yen and Jet Li so this movie was meant to be great and it turned out pretty nice.
Thank you for letting me share the history of this film and what it meant to me personally. I usually keep these short but this movie holds a little something special and I am glad I was able to share that with you all today!
