My Past Can No Longer Stop Me

Poetry: On Letting Go of Unproductive Habits & People

As I breathe in new air I realize I’ve been suffocating with your memories You only lead to nowhere

You weren’t worth my time then You aren’t worth my time now

I’m addicted to not letting go Which I have to cease, so I can grow

So many of you don’t belong in my life So many of you are so wrong for me You’ve never been right

I have to step out of my comfort zone To meet my elevation The ones who will bring my salvation

I’m worthy of so much more Why I keep subjecting myself to this insanity I’m unsure

But it stops today. It stops for all eternity.

This isn’t me. This was never me. I have so much more to be. And my past can no longer stop me.
