Summary

The author recounts a day that began with humorous onomatopoeic sounds suggesting a perfect day but took an unfortunate turn due to a household oversight.

Abstract

The day starts with playful sounds and gestures that fill the narrator with anticipation for an "onomatopoetic-perfect day." From the murmurs and giggles that wake them to the satisfying sounds of breakfast preparation, every detail seems to contribute to a joyful morning. However, the mood shifts when the narrator realizes they've committed a domestic faux pas by leaving the toilet seat up, leading to a comedic yet significant disruption in the day's perfection. The story concludes with the author acknowledging the contributions of various individuals to the narrative and admitting to embellishing the tale with additional words.

Opinions

  • The author perceives everyday sounds as humorous and integral to setting the mood for a perfect day.
  • There is a sense of pride and satisfaction in the small pleasures of life, such as the sound of coffee being poured or a bagel toasting.
  • The incident of leaving the toilet seat up is humorously presented as a minor crime against humanity, indicating the author's self-awareness and light-hearted approach to personal mistakes.
  • The narrative suggests that even the most perfect days can be derailed by simple oversights, yet these moments can also be a source of amusement and storytelling.
  • The author values community input, acknowledging the contributions of others in shaping the story, and takes a creative license to enhance the narrative.

HUMOR

My Onomatopoetic-Picture-Perfect Day

Or … it started out that way

Depending on where you are in the world, that’s either “peace,” “victory,” or “f%$k you!” Photo by Mitchell Orr on Unsplash

With a murmur and a giggle I was roused from sleep to up.

The night before had been filled with Hm…’s and, better still, Mmmmmm’s

It promised to be an onomatopoetic-perfect day, just grrr8!

Whoosh went my onomato-PEE-AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I aim to please.

The muted clink of the toaster catching my bagel, holding the perfect breakfast food in its warm embrace.

A splash of Moooo! in our coffee cups. Next, a sibilant swish of hot and dark (like the night before, only different)

Then Schlurpppppp, aaaaaahhh coffee

Sooooo dear, what shall we do today?

Hmph hmph’ed dear

Thinking back, I had heard no splat, no splish no splash not the tiniest drops

Like I said, “I aim to please”

Tempted to guffaw I thought better of it; scrunched up my mug and ventured a quizzical Grrrrrphhhh of IDK what the problem is

Then Yoikes! it hit me

Ka-ching! Zing!

Crimes against humanity

I’d left the seat up

EGAD!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack! our onomatopoetic-perfect day

Kaboomed!
