My One Week into Trying Mushroom Supplements

A natural path

If you’ve ever been curious about mushroom supplements, you’re not alone. I was too until recently, and I had no idea what they were.

When I thought of “taking mushrooms,” I always associated it with the psychedelic kind, but daily supplements?

Yeah, I was intrigued.

Mushroom supplements are nature’s health gems, tapping into the power of mushrooms like Reishi and Lion’s Mane. They offer a world of benefits, from immune support to sharper minds and less stress — a holistic well-being.

Anyone who knows me knows I’m all for holistic health.

They’re believed to support overall well-being by enhancing the immune system, reducing inflammation, and improving cognitive function. These supplements are often sought after for their balancing properties, which help the body manage stress and maintain balance.

DAY 1 AND 2:

In the first two days when I added mushroom supplements to my smoothie, I felt remarkably productive and energetic. It wasn’t the jolt of a massive coffee or energy drink; instead, it felt like a natural surge of motivation to tackle tasks around the house, engage in more playtime with my son, and maintain a lighter mood, so to speak.

I didn’t let little things frustrate me as much, and I felt less anxious, especially about things that are out of my control.

For example, my one-year-old recently had hypospadias surgery. Granted, I was nervous; it’s a normal human emotion. However, I didn’t freak out, panic, or ask the receptionist a hundred times how much longer they were going to be when I noticed his surgery lasted longer than it was supposed to.

I left it up to the Universe/God and trusted that if my son were in any danger, they would tell me immediately.

DAY 3:

I was eager to run errands by myself, indulge in a small act of self-care, which I rarely do, and return home on time to assist my mother-in-law with some gardening in my front yard. I’ve been wanting to take better care of my yard, and she was willing to help, but I had been feeling drained for some reason.

Then, it hit me — ‘that time of the month.’ You know what I mean. But that didn’t stop me.

Although I had to step away from working, my partner took over, and I took charge of caring for our son, who had just woken up from a nap. Overall, I felt a sense of calmness, clarity, surprisingly not ‘PMS-ing’ at all. Ha!

DAY 4 AND 5:

I started combining mushrooms with my morning coffee, giving the smoothies a break, and consuming healthier meals throughout the day. I mean that’s common sense; you can’t take supplements and eat poorly or else they won’t be as effective.

I noticed being more focused on my “to-do list” for the day and not just saying I’m going to do them, but actually getting them done. It’s a really good feeling when you can check things off your list after procrastinating for so long.

I wrote more in my journal, which I sometimes push aside to focus on engaging in other miscellaneous activities. I also got to brainstorm new ideas for stories to share — ones that I feel comfortable sharing, at least.

The greatest compliment is when someone actually sees a change in me, like my partner noticing how much less irritable I’ve been. I handle my emotions with ease and grace while staying focused on whatever daily errand or chore I’m working on.

It’s amazing how you instantly feel the difference in your body and mind. I’ve taken supplements my whole life, and I don’t usually see a difference within weeks, sometimes months.

END OF THE WEEK:

I’ve considered making this a permanent habit moving forward.

The things that used to irritate me, I don’t even engage in overthinking, nor do I let them get the best of me. I’m also breathing more, which is surprising because, even though it’s so simple to do, I’m guilty of forgetting to breathe sometimes.

Mushroom supplements are considered safe when used as directed.

I am not a professional or doctor, but I can only speak for myself and my experience. They have been a part of traditional medicine for centuries and have a low risk of adverse effects.

It’s essential to choose trustworthy brands and consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement regimen to ensure they are suitable for your health needs.

I’ll be sharing my 30-day journey with mushroom supplements soon, so stay tuned. In the meantime, do your research if you have questions or concerns. It might just change your life, or maybe not — not everything is a perfect fit for everyone.
