My October and September 2023 Medium Earnings per Story

Thank you to Nanie Hurley 🌿 for alerting me and Robin Wilding 💎 for the details that made my heart sing again. I didn’t get any email from Medium but will update if I do.

In light of transparency my friends, I wanted to share how much my posts earned just before the September 25th drop in earnings and what it’s fallen to now.

I started from what I earned today October 10th and went backwards to the last week of September. I am aware that sometimes it takes up to 48 hours for earnings to be calculated.

You can analyse the details in terms of claps and views. I also felt that views have fallen. But perhaps that is because I don’t have a boost this month and I had one early September.

As you can see earnings have dropped 5 fold.

I also just saw an update to Tony’s response to Jenny Lane that left us all disheartened. Thankful to Jenny for daring to ask.

The update by Tony would be better if the lower part of the message about engagement had been clarified further.

I try not to be down but in all honesty I can’t shake the feeling. I had a taste of the good life in August and am hankering for a world where we can make a humble living through writing.

We’re not even asking for much. Just half of minimum wage for the number of hours invested.

I know Medium is a business that has to be profitable. I do. I do get it. But still. You allowed me to dream by dangling that carrot for nearly 2 months. To drink in the elixir. You know?
