My Newest Obsession
The ‘Random Word Generator’
Thank you Adrian CDTPPW, back in the article
I was tagged in, to create poetry out of random words, and in an attempt to procure actually random words of my own I stumbled across the website
Since, I have been tagged in the new article
utilizing random phrases. I actually played along this time, making a poem with the same three phrases as the other poet who tagged me in,
but I had a thought; what about that word generator, I should go back for more inspiration and whip some more random words together. When I made it back in, low and behold there are more than simple words, I can get sentences, or even “phrases”, which is exactly what I am looking for. Load it up, baby!
And of course, I just ran it on the computer without thinking even though it isn’t as easy to capture the screenshot that way. But I actually liked the three I got, so I quickly took an actual photo of the computer screen… I know, I know.

Then I pulled it up on my phone, and on my second run, I ended up with one of the same two phrases!? Well, I was super interested now, I had to find out if I would get “Ride him, Cowboy!” for a third time.

No dice, but once I saw them, I liked all three sets of phrases. I had a choice to make; how would I use them? In three separate poems, two containing the same phrase, in two poems, one with five phrases, and one with three? No, I decided to go for a longer free-form piece containing all of them.

In no particular order: “Two down, one to go”, “Barking up the wrong tree”, “Ride him, cowboy”, “Birds of a feather flock together”, “Jaws of death”, “Go for broke”, “Knock your socks off”, and “On the same page”.
My Newest Obsession
Every time my mind wandered off to some new fantastic land or dreamt up a gift out of love for a precious snail, the question on everyone’s mind was “I thought we were on the same page, what is even going on here?” Hands around the arms giving a shake, hard enough to knock your socks off. I never cared or even noticed until I started writing it all down, I guess it will all be on the same page one day. Once I sat down, it was double or nothing, Two down, one to go, ride or die, a pack a day, and a liter a night. I have to go for broke, I can’t stop now, I’ve just started to hit my stride. If I pull my fingers away from the keys I might lose the flow. It will be all downhill from there, I’ve been on a downhill ride before. Once you’re sailing down that stream it’s straight into the jaws of death, no swimming backwards. I can’t be left barking up the wrong tree, floating in the wrong stream, I want to launch myself. To see how high my fingers can fly, if birds of a feather flock together in stormy skies of lavender blue. The faster I type the wilder things get. How many scenes have I seen in just the last few seconds? I ride the bucking stallion called poetry, wrestling the reigns of fighting back a steed, calls of Ride him, cowboy! ringing loud and hot in my rushing ears. Until finally, I am thrown clear, spent, and sweaty, but the page is splattered with words, my obsession.
As far as tagging, I am going to shout out the last five people to have left comments on my work. I just looked through notifications. I thought it would be nice to try welcoming in some of the new folks who have jumped into the circle via that boost. And to those I am tagging in, if you don’t want to join, you don’t have to. This is just a bit of fun we have been having and you shouldn’t feel compelled to write something similar, but this random word/phrase generator is fun to play with.
