My Muse Is Not Nonbinary: A Poem

My Muse is not non-binary I know this to be true A categorical female she A woman through and through
Don’t ask which pronouns are preferred She’ll tell you she and her Inquire about fluidity And she will not demur
With head thrown back defiantly To let her mane unfurl She’ll proclaim categorically “I enjoy being a girl”
Eight sisters, each as beautiful Step up to watch her back Bear this in mind should you decide To go on the attack
They quarrel not with LGB Nor T nor Q nor Plus Respecting all who walk the Earth But defending we and us
My Muse and her eight sisters Brook neither shame nor pity Just don’t dare hate them ’cause they’re hot And eat-your-heart-out pretty
That gives them power to inspire To spark imagination To drive the artist to the heights Of consummate creation
“My Muse is not non-binary” It should say on my lapel And if you want to pick a fight with me I’ll be at the bar with Dave Chapelle
