My mother passed away last November. During the funeral procession, as we drove to her final resting place, there were many vehicles led by the State Trooper. With his lights flashing, I felt pride when cars pulled-over to allow us to pass. Strange thing though — there was this U-Haul moving truck behind us. I noticed that once we passed the waiting cars, they rushed back into their normal traffic pattern but did not allow the U-Haul to remain in line with us. I imagine they felt it was just a truck that happened to be behind us, but it certainly couldn’t be a part of the funeral procession. They were right. No matter what worldly possessions we amass while we are here, in the end, they all pass on to someone else. So, what will be our lasting legacy?
