My Most Viewed Story Gave Me Nothing

No Money, No Followers, No Read-time…..

Today I am gonna tell you about my most viewed Medium story that didn’t gave me anything, This will be a short explanation because we will only talk about, how it happened and why it didn’t go well.

So I wrote this story on 12th of July 2020, this was my first story on Medium which was inspired by Shelby Church video that how she got $12000 from her first Medium story, in which she wrote about “how much Youtube pays me per 1,000,000 views” and it triggered me to write about Youtube income and I wrote a story similar to that of Shelby Church but with a little twist, It was “How much Youtube pays to different Youtubers per 1,000,000 views”.

As it was my first story on Medium, I researched and gathered many useful information about my story and then it was the time to choose a publication that will be a perfect match for the story and I found The startup, The Mission, Entrepreneur’s Handbook, Better Marketing and Data Driven Investor.

So I started mailing them and after some days they reply with a “NO”, Actually The Startup and Entrepreneur’s Handbook rejected the story, The Mission and Better Marketing Didn’t respond, I was very disappointed but then I thought, they didn’t accept my story because they are the biggest publications on Medium and I am also not an experienced writer to achieve their writing style.

But then, I got an E-mail from “Data Driven Investor” that they have accepted my story and I was very happy to see that. In the first month I got 182 views and $2.12 and I was happy with that, but the problem was the external views in 182 views 98 were internal views while 84 were external.

I was not sad with that too because people rank their stories on Google themselves to gain more and more views and followers, But in my case it was giving me views but without any read time and I didn’t received any followers too.

After a year, it has now gained 1.4K views, with 1.3K external views and only 112 internal with earnings of $3.27 and that’s the reason I am sad about this story because it has gained almost 1.2K more views from its first month but the revenue only increased by $1.15, without receiving any single follower.

This story is still ranking on Google’s first page, receiving 8 to 10 views on average per day but without any read time, followers and money.
