My Morning Routine Will Inspire You
How I Empower my Mind, Body, and Spirit
4:44 am — Alarm goes off, eyes slowly open, steadying my fuzzy gaze in preparation for my talk with God. This is my time to quiet the mind and be absolutely present in the now, blocking out all attachment to the past and future through meditation and prayer.
5:00 am I say out loud my affirmations which are centred around my:
- Life Purpose
- Relationships
- Mindset
- Health and Fitness
- Productivity
- Goals
- Finance
This is done to encourage myself to unlock my full potential, overcome fears and empower my inner being and essence, awakening my true self.
5:10 am I down a litre bottle of water to increase my energy levels, flush out toxins and kick start my daily four-litre water consumption.
5:15 am I begin to read a page from The Daily Stoic and meditate on the four Stoic Virtues; Wisdom, Justice, Courage, and Temperance, strengthening my resilience, fortitude, and mindset for life’s many obstacles. I then meditate on my mortality (Memento Mori) to reinforce the importance of the precious life I have remaining on this planet, being selective and purpose-driven with how I spend my limited time. I shift focus to the present moment again, accepting my fate (Amor Fati) no matter what life throws at me, good, bad or ugly, I choose the mindset of being totally accepting and making the most of the circumstance, always opting to be noble in spite of life’s challenges.
5:30 am I read twenty pages of a book, either a physical book, a book on my Kindle app, or listen to an audiobook for twenty minutes using Audible. This in turn allows for strengthening my mind to learn something new, expanding my vocabulary, and enhancing my analytical thinking skills to improve my memory, focus, and concentration.
5:55 am I read the Bible Verse of the day and daily Devotional on my Tecarta Bible App. Having faith is imperative for me to get through the tough times, giving me strength in times of weakness and acknowledging joy cometh in the morning.
My favourite bible verse;
Psalm 1:1–3 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.
6:00 am Time to see what I have planned for the day, I review my to-do list, prioritise the items in order of importance and value to maximise my productivity for the day ahead. ColorNote App is my app of choice, with its user-friendly interface which allows me to effortlessly stay organised and get things done.
6:15 am My favourite time of the day, physical activity time - My exercise of choice varies;
- 5 mile Run
- Kettlebell workout
- High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)
- Cycling
- Yoga
Sometimes I do all five in a day if I am feeling like Incredible Hulk. My output metric for the chosen activity is then recorded on my favourite fitness app; Strava. Fitness is very important in my daily routine, something I can’t live without.
7:00 am My second favourite time of the day, lol. Keeping fresh and clean is an art form to me that requires a delicate touch as it sets my mood for the rest of the day. I set up my Bluetooth audio speakers in my bathroom and play some thumping music from my Spotify playlists while Showering and sing along to the melodies and lyrics. After my shower, I apply my luxurious organic raw coconut oil and Shea Butter (direct from the Motherland - Lagos, Nigeria). Followed by the application of my African berries and juices to ensure I’m looking fine and smelling sweet.
7:30 am I write in my journal, my thoughts for the day, and my reflections. I am open and honest with myself, writing down exactly how I'm generally feeling, and end my morning journal entry with three things I am most grateful for.
7:45 am Time to feed the body by having a nutritious breakfast. Eat like a king they say, so my meal choice consists of Quaker Oat so Simple (Cinnamon flavour) with Protein Granola, a tablespoon of Meridian crunchy peanut butter, a handful of blueberries and strawberries, and half a banana. If I am feeling sweet I add some Golden Syrup for added sweetness and lastly down my meal with a vegan protein shake/smoothie.
8:10 am Where’s that phone of mine? let’s have a look-see at what is new in the world. At this time I tend to go through my social media, open my emails, open WhatsApp group chats, watch a bit of YouTube, particularly videos on tech and cars which are my favourite interests.
8:30 am Time to start prepping for the working day. At this point, I am ready and primed to take on the day and life with the right mindset and tools to aid me.
Hope you feel empowered and motivated by my daily morning routine.
