My Mom’s Buttery Christmas Sugar Cookie Recipe

A crumbly, buttery sugar cookie recipe my mom’s been using for almost twenty years. They’re delicious baked thin with sprinkles — icing’s good too, but it might cause a sweetness overload!

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

After kneading the dough, saran wrap and place in the fridge for two hours. Then roll it out, cookie-cutter into your favorite shapes, sprinkle your sprinkles and bake for 10–12 minutes in the oven at 350 ℉.

This should (according to my sister) serve 20 people — depending on how much each person eats, maybe more, maybe less. If you stack them in a tin, they’re great as a Christmas present for the neighbors.

They’re buttery and delicious — and they smell heavenly.
