My Medium Stats Tanked
I know I’m doing it all wrong. Some help, Medium?

These are my stats as of late:

The views are because I published a successful post mid-September. You know, you get the best results the day you publish and soon after. So, I guess my future stats will be poorer.
I’m planning to publish more frequently. I thought one published article in one day was okay, as they advise. But they told me that it should be done each day. Once in a month does not count.
They also said that I could improve my stats with comments. It sounds weird, but they say that Medium works like that. Wait a moment. You mean that all the gorgeous stats they brag around include… comments? Geez, what a far-fetched idea. I nearly bought that.
Anyway, I write for myself, so I’m going to read my post daily. That should define me as both a writer and a reader.
Speaking about earnings, August earnings are a bit less bright.

I thought the minus was about my audience removing claps. Maybe decluttering their Medium account?
But Medium told me that earnings are related to reading time. So, I guess they scrolled my posts back from the bottom to unread. I guess it’s a new hack for reading for free. I wouldn’t be surprised if they get some money back at renewal time.
Commissioned authors are already there, why not commissioned readers?
Well, to be honest… the previous stats are a fake. Just a joke. Sorry. My real stats are much worse than in the past, but slightly better than zero. I was just ashamed to show them.

They’re real, seriously. I know from Tracy Stengel that this is a well-known stats figure. The FU figure. Or “the bird.” I’m not native English, but it sounds like a poetic rhetorical form.
I guess Medium is telling me something.
Well, more than telling they’re doing. But I’m puzzled. They removed my name from my articles on the home page. They say they’re trying to improve my relationship with my audience. Which, in my case, shouldn’t be that hard. Still, I’m unsure about that tactic.
I know it happened to other authors too. But they’re not worried, because Medium is just experimenting. Sounds a weird experiment, but who am I to judge? I should be more open, probably. Maybe removing titles is the next thing.
Other authors reported the disappearing of the number of followers, the featured post, the curation label. At Medium, they definitely know what “less is better” means.
Well, Medium, my bad stats are my bad, and I know you’re trying to help me, but please stop. Whatever you’re changing, please stop. I’ll die poor in any case. Just don’t infer.
