My May Earnings Shocked Me First, Then Delighted Me

Gosh, I can’t take this

May has been a month full of struggles. Although I kept pushing out new content, my stats were steadily declining.

It was disheartening to see it happen. I was on an upward trend in April and I figured it would only go up from there. Even if the ascent was slow, at least things were getting better.

I felt like things were falling apart. Nevertheless, I continued to push my content. I would publish one to three stories a day without fail. I didn’t want to break the momentum.

Here’s The Shock

When I checked my monthly total for May on June 1, I almost had a heart attack! Why? Because my earnings suddenly decreased! You can read about it in my story here.

But to make a long story short, there was a glitch on the Medium platform.

Many writers saw a decrease in their earnings. Can you imagine seeing your hard-earned money disappear, right before your eyes? What a nightmare!

Fortunately, the glitch was fixed within hours. Kudos to the great work in getting it rectified so quickly!

I’m thankful that all my stats all reflect correctly now.

I Had Another Concern, Before the Delight

After settling down from my scare, another concern decided to manifest.

It’s great that I’ve increased my earnings from month to month.

But you can see that the jump from each month is getting smaller and smaller. I made a huge jump from January to February, but after that, the jumps weren’t so big anymore.

Check out my earnings in the past five months now. Despite having the highest earnings for May, it was only a few dollars more than April.

Here’s my concern. In the upcoming months, will the increase in earnings just stop increasing at all?

I’m crossing my fingers and hoping that my earning potential hasn’t plateaued at its peak already. My goal is to reach at least $100 in monthly earnings. I’m still on the way there and have a lot of work to do.

I’m Still Delighted and Grateful

I’m happy that my efforts have not gone to waste so far. Although I wasn’t able to earn more than April, I’m still glad I was able to do a bit better.

I’m continually experimenting with new strategies and tweaking my routine to keep growing on Medium.
