My Lucky Green Stone

Photo taken by Celine Lai

Today Mere Male and I took the opportunity of a fine, even if cold morning, to take Basil the Dog Detective for a walk.

As we approached the first park (the little one) I saw in the earth something that was a pale but lovely and shiny green, so I picked it up.

It is simply a roundish glass pebble, the sort that you might have among other coloured pebbles in a small wishing fountain.

I brushed away the dirt and examined my prize, and into my pocket it went.

The other two ventured forward to the next park, the big one. When I arrived, I said “I’m tired, I don’t know how I managed to go in the HBF Run or Walk for a Reason.”

But I got my second wind, and we all had a great time walking right around the inside edge of the huge park, which it seems is only frequented singly by dogs.

At the smaller park, Basil did meet two small dogs, whom I thought were cute and a bit like sheep (Basil had his coat trimmed recently). MM pointed out that our dog snapped at one of the other dogs, to try to assert his seniority!

I showed Mere Male my beautiful green prize and he admired it, and said it would look nice on a bracelet!

We spent some happy creative moments, looking at what we could do with this gem. I imagined a black velvet bracelet or choker necklace affixed with Velcro! Low tech for me. 😃

Anyhow I washed it at home and am keeping it now as my lucky stone. I love green and this one is a gorgeous apple green. It’s not too small but small enough for a pocket.

It’s suitable for a “worry stone” (to rub your thumb or finger over it as you ruminate over a worry) and for just plain looking beautiful wherever it is placed.

Here is a photo of my new gemstone/crystal pendants that I recently acquired, with my lucky stone nestled among them!

It may be just a piece of coloured glass, but to me it is a reminder of all things growing and beautiful, and I feel that for me it is Lucky!
