My Loving Friendship
In Health and In Sickness

“Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.” — Anais Ni
That minute by the University gate, You asked me the time, It was afternoon, I saw your Wristwatch shine,
In the lift our first Encounter, We hardly spoke, One of them told me ‘You know this guy, He is the one who scores’,
‘How did you spot me?’ I need to know all — Jest came with a grin ‘You know I am tall’!
Cut above the rest, those Roving looks suiting a spy, Never missed me crossing Those GPS fitted eyes,
That became a habit Protection from far, Remember that annual fest, The walk to Ati’s car….. You led me firm, made my way, through that arena Infested, That day I knew safety like a child nested.
With you I could be myself Without signing a writ, Whims, swings, slapdashes Found the right fit, Chalk n cheese we may be To the world outside, How we smile away insinuations Knowing the strength’s disguised,
Humouring through hard times Beholden in good, We found our home in each other Who asked for roofs?!
Roof and little more of Life’s goods Is but for the world to witness, Stitched in soul we are and will be In health and in sickness!
Author’s Note: “The most beautiful discovery true friends make is that they can grow separately without growing apart.” — Elisabeth Foley The one fitting quote that speaks to me right.
A long demand that I write something ‘about’, finally took some shape. Though we are seriously dissimilar yet are made of the same piece of fabric, designed differently but to suit one purpose. For a loving friend, my soul mate and partner-in-crime, in health and sickness, quite literally.
But this song of friendship also extends to all wonderful, brilliant minds and infallible souls I have met in these few months here, along with some old, whose presence, encouragement and words have always brightened up my days, so Thank You!
