If my letter can teach you anything

You always come to me;

you’ve been doing that since I knew my name

Yet you’ve never attached more to my name

Not because you care less but because of the new name you rubbed on me

You tagged me with it and I’ve not been able to shake it off

I always lose my arguments with you but I never mind and I will never mind.

When it got tough on me, I wanted to end this affair

But what I can’t fully figure out is why you are bent on loving me

When I act on the things you whisper to me in the secret, I look like a lunatic

Folks, with their words and actions, are telling me to “get my crap together”

But if there is any mistake I want to be convicted of in life, it is that I trust you wholly

Some thought I’m in it for the gold

they’ve missed it because I’m in it for someone more

And if only they know how much you’ve done already, they will know it’s far more than gold.

The deed is done. I’m set on a permanent life with you

I’m not running away with you; I’m taking a walk with you

My heart pants for your love so much that I can’t turn back again.

Your water is precious to me because I know what it is to be thirsty.

It’s too late to break up with you

Things don’t matter at the face of our affair
