I hope to inspire you to enjoy your fruits

I am conservative about eating non-veg foods, but when it comes to plant-based food, I can eat just about anything.

Bitter, slimy, sulfur taste, fibrous. It does not matter. I will try and repeat.

But fruits are special. Life is so much better because if fruits.

I grew up munching, and relishing tonnes of backyard guava, mangoes, oranges, litchis, papayas, bananas, and rose apples.

Custard apple, cherimoya, jackfruits, Java plums, date palm fruits, date plums, jujube, coconut.

Even water chestnuts, golden apples, kiwis, plums, star fruit, longans, and sapotes..

I even visited a friend’s village for they had Cuddapah almond trees, the fruits of which are sweet-sour with tasty nuts too.

But I knew there is a gamut of other fruits that are easily accessible or affordable in India.

Then destiny brings me to California!

If you don’t know, it’s a paradise for food lovers.

I got to savor apricot, avocado, rambutan, dragon fruit, persimmon, blueberry, kumquat, loquat, tejocote, natal plum, feijoa, lily pilly, passion fruit, cherry, raspberry, strawberry, nectarine, rose hip, prickly pear fruits, silverberry, coffee berry…

Still, there are some fruits which I have not tasted, mostly because of their overriced nature. Durian, mangosteen, salak etc.

Anyway, I remember how I had got some passion fruits from a ranch market. The fruits were expensive and very tart. I felt cheated and never tried to buy again.

But now, my neighborhood has a robust passion fruit vine. In the winter, the fruits ripen and I collect pounds of them, making delicious juice with the pulp.
