My Long Journey to Endless Hope
A Poem of Deep Loss

In a long, lean, and lonely Winter,
Hope sags in silence and faints,
As the chill digs deep into my soul.
Birds above migrate to warmer roots,
Naked trees stand without their colourful coats,
Seas pound their tides against stubborn rocks;
The end is not as fearful as its feint,
God’s mercies did not strain;
Spring bursts forth in the splendid dawn,
Brings joy and new beginnings, as
Grace cometh with the Summer morn.
My long journey to Hope continues,
Leaving trails of mourning and tears
At crossroads without warnings or signs
To the end in the far distance not in sight.
As time watches, I wait
For the tender mercy of joy,
For a safe place to rest my joints,
For joyous comfort to my soul,
For the warm embrace of love, and
For the blessings of loving Grace.
On wings of faith, I soar
Like eagles into the winds above,
With nothing in my hands,
Only to the cross I hang
On the promises of His Hope
To unite with the loved ones lost.
When all the Summers end
In a silent symphony of sounds
With claps of trumpets and thunder,
On the musical score of many seasons.
As the seasons hold fast,
Eternity beckons from deep within my heart,
With deep longing for endless Hope
From the close of timeless days
At the end of all the days
Where I long to rest at last
When Hope shall exist no more.
