I was in my early 30s when I became a Christian

Prior to that, I didn’t actively reject the faith, I just didn’t get it. And my life was fine, thank you.

But once I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior and began a spiritual journey that has taken me to places more amazing, more breathtaking, more wonderful than I could ever have imagined, I can say without question that my life is better as a Christian.

I follow a Savior who teaches love, forgiveness and caring for others. I believe in a God who loves me, who created me in His image, who wants a personal relationship with me. Every day I am filled anew with the Holy Spirit, giving me the strength and focus to live God’s plan for me.

What if I’m wrong?

What if there is no God? What if this life is all there is? What if the Bible is a collection of fiction written by some crazy ancient folks?

My life is still better as a Christian

Every morning, I thank God for a new day and ask Him to guide me through it. I read the stories of what Jesus did and figure out how to apply His lessons in our fallen contemporary world. I drift off to sleep at night counting my blessings.

As part of a community of believers, my life is more stable, my relationships are richer, and I am never, ever bored because there is always something to do, some way to serve, some way to grow. Through Christ, I have learned to find joy in struggle and peace in pain.

My life is better as a Christian.

I’m not perfect. I struggle with temptation, I sin in word and deed. But I am forgiven and, because of that, I am able to forgive others. Releasing those hurts, as Jesus teaches, allows me to fully embrace new blessings and accept new gifts.

My life is better as a Christian.

Before I became a Christian, my life wasn’t bad. I had a well-paying career, a nice home, and plenty of friends. I didn’t feel like I was missing anything.

But I was.

When Jesus touched my heart and said, “This is what it’s all about,” my life changed forever.
