My Journey of Becoming a Freelance Writer
Enjoying freelance writing as a mom

When I was a kid, I used to read books all the time, not only a reader, but I was also a good writer. Since my childhood, I love to read and write, from fiction to classic children’s stories, to young world magazines. I visited my school library twice a week to borrow new books each time.
I was fond of writing diaries and filling my notebooks with imaginative stories, my feelings, and my emotions. I also wrote about all the special events of my life.
Then after marriage and kids, I enjoyed writing about my kid’s cute actions and achievements like when my kids learned to sit, learned to walk, and when they first time said the word baba or mama, or when their first teeth grow. I wrote all the milestones my kids achieved since their childhood.
Whenever I and my kids sit together we enjoyed reading those old memories from my diary, before the disaster took place in my house and all my diaries were burned. (You can read the story of the most dreadful disaster in my life here).
My husband knows my interest in writing, so he gave me the advice to do professional writing as a freelancer. Although he gave me many other options to learn new skills like graphic designing, digital marketing, virtual assistance, and content writing, but nothing attracts me more than writing as writing is my passion since childhood.
Then he suggested me to enroll in a freelancing and creative writing course so it helps me sharpen my skill as a professional writer. I completed both courses in 3 months and got certified. In between these courses I also did short course of content writing , my teacher was very helpful and gave me an idea to start my writing career from the medium .
She also gave me an idea to make an account on freelancing sites and start working as a content writer, but because of my busy schedule I didn’t make an account on any other sites yet, so I am enjoying writing solely on the medium.
My husband first asked me to start giving 1 to 2 hours daily for writing as he knows it’s difficult for me to give time with my small kids. Out of my busy schedule with my little kids, I first started giving 2 hours a day for writing articles.
My husband appreciates my efforts and motivates me to write more, he made my medium account and adds my profile to the partnership program so gradually my skills developed, and now I can give 3 to 4 hours for writing and editing.
At the start, I felt like its impossible to do, but when I got into a rhythm, writing has become more interesting for me day by day.
First, it took me hours and hours, sometimes two to three days to complete one article, but now I can write an article in one day and edit on another day. My teacher and my husband are my best supporters, without them I think I wouldn’t be able to start this journey.
When I start getting admired by my friends and relatives, it makes me more energetic and helps me to write more and more. When my friends asked me how I became a writer and how I got time to write with my little kids.
I answered them, indeed pursuing a dream is hard and costly, it required a lot of time and dedication but these efforts are worth it.
There’s much more that I could write on this topic but I think it’s enough to write so I will leave it at this for now.
Here is one final piece of advice is “Always follow your passion, and not what others think you should do “
