My Job Ideas For Prince Harry.

A fun CBC interview.

I had the pleasure of being contacted by a CBC (Canadian Broadcast Corporation) reporter last year. It was big news that Prince Harry & Meghan Markle were moving to Canada upon their departure from their official duties with Royal Family.

And the news spread that they were going to settle in Western Canada. (The region of Canada that I’m from.)

The reporter asked me to weigh in on my thoughts of what jobs Prince Harry would be qualified for upon arrival in Canada. (I’ve been a recruiter and staffing firm owner for a really long time… so, he thought I’d have some insight.)

The reporter gave me about 17 minutes to come up with some ideas.

I thought to myself, “I need to give this a creative & really fun spin.”

And I did.

A few minutes later, I ran my ideas past my Rockstar recruiter, Steven. He burst out laughing at a few. GRIN. (A good sign.)

A minute later I was live on the phone with the CBC reporter. Five minutes into the interview, the reporter was also chuckling. 😊

I started off by stating the obvious….Prince Harry is a very strong communicator, likable and passionate. He could work in any number of disciplines.

A few of my creative ideas included:

Harry qualified as an Apache attack helicopter pilot in 2012. So very naturally, he could fly helicopters for any air ambulance organization in the country.

Imagine, you’re having the worst day of your life. You’re badly injured. You need an air ambulance to get you to the nearest hospital, urgently. And Prince Harry comes to rescue you?? OK, now that would make a GREAT story… the day I got rescued by a Prince!”.

With his helicopter pilot skills, he could take the training necessary to fly commercial aircraft. If John Travolta can fly for Qantas, Prince Harry could surely be at the helm to fly me from Calgary to Toronto for my next business trip on WestJet or Air Canada.

“Prince Harry served in the Army for ten years, rising to the rank of Captain and undertaking two tours of Afghanistan. He continues to work in support of his fellow servicemen, promoting support for wounded men and women as they adapt to life post-injury.” (source: Royal.uk)

He could easily continue his work in Canada with wounded military.

I wrapped up with my last “out of the box” ideas, focusing on his love of sport.

He could elevate the profile of Canadian rugby. (Canadians are bigger fans of hockey (of course) and football.) Rugby takes a bit of a back-burner. With the help of the Prince, perhaps he could add some cache to the sport!

And my final idea…

A ski instructor. GRIN. He’s an avid skier and any one of the amazing ski resorts in Alberta or British Columbia would be THRILLED to have him on their roster! A ski lesson from a Prince? Now, that would be fun!!

The reporter wrapped up by saying to me:

Well, you certainly gave the most out-of-the-box ideas!”

I smiled. My 17 minutes of creative thinking paid off.
