My January 2024 Medium Income — Report
With an increase of more than 200%
How are your New Year’s resolutions holding up?
One month of the new year is already gone. And it’s been a strong start for me. Not because of the New Year’s resolutions but because I kept doing the one thing I started in late November last year: writing.
Here’s where it brought me in January 2024.
My Full January 2024 Statistics
In January, I published 30 stories.
Meaning I haven’t achieved my goal every single day. Not because I’ve neglected writing but because I underestimated the time it takes publications to publish posts.
Lesson learned? Write more and submit earlier.

Besides, I more than doubled my income this month, reaching over $32.
That’s still a lousy hourly loan, BUT I’m gaining momentum. And it’s way more fun than optimizing business processes in an ERP system, where I came from initially.
$32 is a good start, and as you can see, I already paid off my Medium membership two months and a couple of days in. But that’s only the beginning. I want to go B I G in the next couple of months.
What’s next?
I aim high.
Although I don’t have a rocket yet, I aim for the moon. Meaning this month, I strive for $75.
This would be another more than double right there.
How I’ll do it?
By following three simple steps:
- writing
- writing
- writing
First, I write stories (obviously). Second, I write comments for people whose work I love. Third, I write some more to improve my writing.
I said it somewhere else, but writing is the best thing you can do.
How much? Doesn’t matter.
When? Doesn’t matter.
About what? Doesn’t matter.
Write, write more, and then write some more.
Then, do the most essential thing: hit publish.
Get feedback, use it to improve, and write again. Improve what you do daily. Why? Because even if you only improve 0.1% daily, you’ll have improved more than 30% after a year.
Tell me any stock that’s getting this kind of return.
That’s why I’ll invest about 1 1/2 hours daily on Medium. It’s still not the best hourly salary, but I’m getting there. And writing is about having fun, anyway.
Let’s have some fun, write.
Rome wasn’t built in a day. Your writing career won’t be either. Sit down, start writing, share your wins, and improve on your failures.
Then, write some more.
