My haunted experience in Wales (months of creepiness)

Do you believe in ghosts??? I didn’t until I had a very real experience in Wales….
Many moons ago, I moved to Wales for seven months with my grandparents. They had already resided there for around two years. Anyway, my nan would tell me a few spooky stories about their home in her letters which we wrote back and forth.
She said things would fall off the shelves onto the floor, doors would open and close gently on their own, the tv and radios would turn on by themselves, and their dog would bark and stare into the dark hallways at night growling and whining. However, she never seemed scared, she seemed to enjoy it, and she said if it was a ghost, they didn’t mean any harm.
The house was over 100 years old, and it was an old church/Sunday school converted into a very charming, quiet little house in the middle of nowhere. Out the windows, you could see trees for miles, mountains, deserted roads, and the occasional cows and sheep. I couldn’t wait to move out there, even with the creepy ghost stories.
A month or so after I arrived, some pretty strange things started happening.
My room was right at the top of the stairs. It was large and spacious, and the floor would creak with every step I took.
I was brushing my teeth one evening, and I don’t know about you, but do you ever get the feeling you’re being watched?
like something is standing right behind you, but when you turn around, there’s nothing?
I could feel the hair on the back of my neck stand up, my heart began to race, and I’ve never brushed my teeth so fast in my life. I darted out that bathroom, down the stairs, and promptly joined my grandparents in the living room. My nan asked if I was okay, and I asked if she came upstairs, but she said no.
Each night before I fell asleep, I would lay in bed and toss and turn until the early hours. Around 2 am, I heard what sounded like a ball bouncing up and down on the floor, however, it sounded like it was right outside my door.
I often ignored it and tried to fall asleep, but some nights it would really creep me out. One night I heard my grandad get up and use the bathroom, so I thought this was my chance, I’ll be safe knowing he’s awake, so I opened the door, looked around and there was nothing.
I would ask my grandparents if they ever heard this, and they said no. As you can imagine, I was a little freaked out. A couple of nights passed, and I went upstairs to take a bath. This house was in the middle of nowhere, so all I could hear outside was the wind and the occasional animal noises, So it was silent upstairs.
As I relaxed in the bath, I heard what sounded like whispering and mild giggling, I called out for my nan and grandad, and my nan shouted my name from downstairs, questioning what was wrong. So I laid back down in the bath and told myself to ignore it.
Out of nowhere, I heard the dog barking and growling, and it sounded like he was upstairs. After jumping out of my skin, a ton of water splashed over the side of the bath and I immediately got out. As I slowly opened the door, I peeked my head around the corner, and I was stunned to see the dog standing bolt upright, glaring into my bedroom, and he was whimpering.
I approached him and asked him what he was doing (as if he was going to answer me lol.) He quickly turned around and raced downstairs. I put every single light on, got dressed as fast as I could, and ran down after him.
I spoke to my nan about what I’d heard, and she ever so calmly said it was a ghost. I was shocked by her response and said, “do you believe that?” She nodded in agreement and advised me that it was harmless. She told me to ignore it, and the fact that the house was a school all those years ago, it could be children. I was bloody terrified.
One night, my nan and grandad had to pop out, so I was left alone for a couple of hours. I refused to go upstairs, so I sat in the living room watching tv. The chairs were facing the windows so there was a huge open space behind me, again I had this constant feeling something or someone was watching me. I demanded the dog sit with me at all times.
I got a little freaked out and decided to call my friend for company, we spoke for ages and, all of a sudden, I heard a bang coming from upstairs and what sounded like somebody walking around. I told my friend who just laughed and told me to go and check it out.
Remembering what my nan said, I choose to ignore it. However, the dog began to bark louder and louder, I tried to calm him down, but he wouldn’t stop. I said goodbye to my friend because I couldn’t hear a word she was saying. He then bolted to the stairs and stood at the bottom gazing upstairs, it looked like he was watching something.
I didn’t even want to approach him, I was so scared. At this point, he stopped barking and just continued to stare, making the odd growl noise.
They later arrived home, and I felt so relieved they were back. I told my grandad what I heard, and he refused to believe anything. He just informed me that the house is old, and it’s no surprise that I could hear creaking and banging.
One evening, I offered to make dinner and as I was preparing the food, the kitchen door decided to slam on its own. There was absolutely no wind, the dog was asleep in his bed, and it had stayed open most of the day, there’s no way that could slam shut on its own.
I continued to cook and placed all the dishes in the oven, and now the dinner was a waiting game. Later, the timer buzzed, so I went to check on the food, and it was all stone cold. My grandad checked the oven and could see nothing wrong with it. This could’ve been a coincidence but after all the other creepy stuff going on, I believe it could all be connected.
One evening we were sitting in the garden enjoying a barbecue, and we heard a loud crash in the kitchen. We rushed in, and several plates had smashed on the floor, and a bottle of milk had spilled everywhere. This actually began to creep my nan out a little, whereas my grandad said it was all a coincidence.
Later that night, I was just drifting off to sleep, and I began to hear the whispering, and this time something flew off the top of one of the wardrobes, and it was one of those large exercise balls. As it landed, it bounced around the floor. I instantly remembered that bouncing ball sound I heard a couple of weeks ago, and it sounded exactly the same. It was so bloody creepy.
Months passed, and after lots of sleepless anxious nights, it was finally my last week. I woke up one evening around 4 am desperate for the toilet. When you opened the bedroom door, you could see straight downstairs, and it was pitch black, although there was a small light on which my nan left for the dog in case he walked downstairs.
And I kid you not, I saw something. My grandparents were asleep, the dog was in his bed beside me, and it was eerily quiet. As I took one step out of the bedroom, I saw a shadow move at the bottom of the stairs

I rubbed my eyes, praying that I imagined it. It then slowly moved in the opposite direction, the floorboards creaked, and it looked like a shadow of somebody tall walking towards to front door.
I heard banging sounds like someone was hitting their hands on the walls or worktops, and just like that, it disappeared. I encouraged the dog in my room, one because I was terrified, and two because he was so restless I didn’t want him going downstairs alone.
I loved Wales, it was beautiful, but I was glad to come home. Several months later, my grandparents sold the house and moved back closer to where we lived, and I’m so relieved they did. I don’t think I could ever stay in that creepy house again.
A very creepy experience for sure. When I tell people about it, they either say, “oh that sounds so cool” or they don’t believe me, which is fine. I didn’t believe in ghosts either until I saw and heard everything with my own eyes.
Have you had any paranormal experiences???
