My Great-Grandmother’s Norwegian Apple Cake Recipe
September Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Comfort”
To my family. With love, great-grandmother.
Autumn mood, weekend off, coffee, and a comforting apple cake. Do you want to find out how to make apple cake according to an old Norwegian recipe? Here you have it, my great-grandmother’s original way of making apple cake. 🍎
My great-grandmother’s recipe for apple cake (as seen in the lower left corner of the picture), translated from Norwegian to English:
Apple cake
- 125 grams of butter
- 125 grams of sugar
- 125 grams of wheat flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2–4 apples
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- A little cinnamon
Butter and sugar, wheat flour, and baking powder are crumbled together, and half-beaten eggs are stirred in. The dough is smoothed out in greased bake tin. Apple boats are put on. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon over. The cake is baked in the bottom rack of the oven at 200 degrees Celsius for about 30 minutes.
I (the author and great-granddaughter) add chopped almonds because I like them. All recipes are guides you can modify, right?
I hope you like it ❤️
