My Grand Bucket List of Desserts
For my fellow baked goods fanatics, be warned: this might be a mental flavor overload. Here are some international desserts I simply have to sample in my lifetime.
- Japanese soufflé pancakes with whipped cream and strawberries. Their fluffiness comes from egg whites whipped to peaks and folded into the batter.
- Día de Los Muertos sugar skulls — merengue with glittering royal icing.
- Baked Alaska. A sugary explosion — ice cream cake encased by a shell of swirled meringue!
- A jar of creamy caramelized dulce de leche. Yep. That’s it. Just a jar of sweetened condensed milk.
- Something involving cracking a giant chocolate shell. Anything, really.
- A freak shake. With fudge brownies and chip cookies and marshmallows on top. Sounds indulgent, but I’ve got to do it at least once.
