My Graduation Week
DAY 1 — “THE CHARACTER DAY”
On the inaugural day of our much-anticipated graduation week, emotions ran high as we, the final year students, embarked on a journey filled with nostalgia, laughter, and a tinge of melancholy. With the impending closure of our university chapter, the air was thick with sentiments, and the bond we shared with our friends and groups felt irreplaceable.
The theme for the first day was “Character Day,” a creative endeavor where each student transformed into a beloved character from either Hollywood or Bollywood. The campus came alive with diverse personas, showcasing the imagination and enthusiasm of our graduating class.
Among the vibrant portrayals, a fellow student embodied Joe Goldberg from the Netflix series “You,” meticulously replicating the character’s attire and demeanor. Another chose the iconic Gangubai, portrayed by Alia Bhatt in a Bollywood blockbuster, donning the signature white saree, black glasses, and a distinctive bun. A dear friend embraced the whimsical pandit character from Akshay Kumar’s “Bhool Bhulaiyaa,” capturing attention with an authentic outfit.
Creativity soared as one friend embraced the mystique of a witch, complete with a long black dress, jacket, belt, hat, and even eerie details like long black nails and a blood-red complexion. Another paid homage to Naina Talwar from Bollywood, resembling Deepika Padukone’s character with glasses, a jacket, and a long frock.
As for myself, I fulfilled a five-year dream of becoming Geet from “Jab We Met.” Adorned in a long red skirt, a white puffy-sleeved top, and a corset, I styled my hair akin to Kareena Kapoor Khan’s iconic look. The day was marked by praise and admiration for the meticulous recreation, and I even treated my fellow graduates to a two-step dance reminiscent of the character.
Throughout the day, we celebrated, reminisced, and exchanged heartfelt sentiments. Tears were shed, compliments were generously shared, and the atmosphere was charged with an overwhelming sense of camaraderie. As we basked in the festivities, it became clear that these precious moments would forever linger in our hearts, transcending the uncertainties that lay ahead. Regardless of where life takes us, the memories forged during this extraordinary graduation week will serve as a cherished reminder of the profound connections and experiences we shared.
