My Gift To My Dear Friends

a poem, filed under cursed

Photo by Casey Chae on Unsplash

Many of my friends, bearing the weight of their childhood (emotional) wounds, aware of their personalities have chosen not to have children simply because it does not tickle their fancy to do so, and we live in a space where this is increasingly less stigmatized to choose this, for which I am grateful.

Which is why I especially cherish the friends who have expressed interest in children, for if it so tickles their fancy to do so during their pregnancy and they do take an MRI photo of their baby (instead of or in addition to an ultrasound), I wish to commission an embroidery artist to immortalize such a moment, 33% for the art, 33% for supporting small artists and businesses, 33% for the meme.

Inviting Jimmy Misner Jr. | Kasun Ranasinghe| Tasneem Kagalwalla | Shannon Hugman | Nes Laidler | Mil H.| Melissa Bee | Paola Perez | Carlos Garbiras| Daniel A. Teo | if you’re up to it and anyone else interested to smash that writer’s block, join in on this tiny challenge and write a response, wherever it takes you! It can be a tiny poem, a shortform piece or an essay — whatever comes into that brain noodle!

What’s the weirdest gift you have received or given to others? What was the story behind it?

This poem was crafted after seeing this tweet about what babies look like in MRI:

Submit it to The Brain is a Noodle or be sure to tag me in your response if you publish elsewhere, so I can read it and share it with the world!
