My Gardyn, Day 7
Unplanned update: I have sprouts!!

(All Photos by Rowen Quinn)
I hadn't planned on doing an update after a week. After all what could happen in a week?
However, I also had not anticipated that I would have sprouts in 17 out of the 30 pods in my Gardyn, either. I felt like that was worthy of sharing with anyone considering this purchase.
I am so happy to say that I have over half of my system sprouting. In a few short weeks I will have a plethora of fresh lettuces just waiting to join my salad.
PS: In defense of the other pods, they are vegetables like peppers, which are notoriously slow to sprout. So there are no issues with the other pods, they just have longer germination times.
The system came with 30 starter pods, with a variety of greens. Some of which I had never heard of. One of the awesome perks of the Gardyn app is that it has a “plant book” for each vegetable that they send.
For each plant, it will tell you:
- How to care for, and harvest the plant.

2) How to cut the plant for ongoing harvest, so that it won’t bolt and go to seed. Leaving you with nasty bitter greens.
3) Miscellaneous facts about the plant such as place of origin

4) Qualities, nutrients, and vitamin content

5) How to use it.

6) Recipes (For those vegetables that you would/can cook.
NOTE: I have not read through every single plant, but these 6 things were included in all the plants that I have read through.
The plant book is a free service, in the Gardyn app. Those photos are from the quick reference plant book. There is a more in depth plant book as well.
So over all, at a week in, I am very happy with the unit and the customer service. I thought I had an issue, and reached out to them. They responded in a very timely manner. It was an issue on my end, easily fixed, and back on the road to have a less grocery store reliant family.
