My Garden, my book
Reading, Writing and Gardening, exercises in imagination.

Reading
Reading is all about interpreting symbols to extract meaning from visual notations or tactile signals like braille.
Reading part of cognitive thinking, Helps manage stress and improves cognition, Cognitive benefits continue into mid-life and senior years, Slows down cognitive decline in seniors like me.
Cognitive Thinking
Making sense or extracting meaning from visual signals, Done by signal with our worldview.
Sounds rather simple, But consider this, Reading word “car” brings to mind understanding of artifact called “car”, All the mechanical stuff, Comfortable seating, Smell of interior, Colors of exterior, Emotional attachments, Driving experiences, Aspirations and regrets, All in an instant of time.
Our worldview contains whole of life knowledge, Our orientation to society and points-of-view, Values and emotions, Ethics and beliefs, Our worldview defines us.
Cognitive thinking is not just one-way, We add new knowledge from reading books practising skills or noticing change.
Cognitive thinking is system of complex processes with surprising outcomes, Cognitive processes can fill in visual gaps with wild imaginings.
Reading exercises our mind and memories, Refreshing and reminding, Energising and cleansing, Extending usefulness as age creeps up.
Writing
Writing is process of representing language in symbolic form by system of physically inscribing or mechanically transferring or digitally representing symbols.
Writing transfers knowledge by externalizing thinking, Making it easier to reflect on message elaborate ideas reconsider concepts revise and clarify phrasing.
Writing itself is not language, Writer uses commonly accepted and understood descriptive symbols to create textual messages in structures according to language rules and accepted idioms, Making sense of text requires reader to have knowledge of language’s symbols idioms and writing rules.
Ruminations.
Taken together reading writing and thinking stretch imagination and thinking ability.
Mind gives us single complex system processes for visualising thoughts memories and surroundings.
Applies same process to reading and writing conceptualising reading and imagining scrolling pages in textual thinking.
Have one mind One set of senses One worldview and One general cognitive system to manage all our needs, In our single system: Reading makes sense of all inputs, Cognition uses full range of sensations to fuse with worldview so creating what we all perceive every day, Writing encompasses all outputs across all capabilities to make external changes, Truly we are an holistic complex adaptive social system.
Gardening.
Gardening involves active participation in growing plants and labor intensive.
Every morning read my garden especially vanilla vine and seeds, Making sense of garden’s condition, Deciding on watering fertilising pot re-arranging trimming and adjusting LED’s, Seeking ideal growing conditions.
Having read my garden and decided what needs doing, I write changes, Watering just enough, Trimming as necessary, Standing back and reading what I’ve written Making adjustments, Over time garden becomes a journal, My book of life, Know its language, Read its history and deeper lore, Gaia’s blessing.
Blessed be.
