Where you will enjoy some insanely cool slow motion gore moments that see your cyber Ninja gleefully slice bad guys in 2 with your katana, which goes through bad guys like a hot knife through butter…it’s freaking awesome!</p><figure id="7010"><img src="https://cdn-images-1.readmedium.com/v2/resize:fit:800/1*LDGgKojy07in4lu9ibVTBw.jpeg"><figcaption>A dark Cyberpunk asthetic runs deep through Ghostrunner 2 (Image Credit: 505 Games)</figcaption></figure><h1 id="916b">Ghostrunner 2 is one of the most rewarding gameplay experiences</h1><p id="2079">This gameplay loop really gave me a huge sense of reward after progressing though a tough area after literally 100 tries, it was such a buzz to finally defeat whoever stood in my way…especially as I was playing this on PS5 using a controller where you really had to be zoned in to do the business as I’d a game that can be as fast as Ghostrunner 2 probably lends itself better to keyboard and mouse… but loving the dopamine hit of unlocking PlayStation trophies I opted for the console copy of the game!</p><figure id="4ddc"><img src="https://cdn-images-1.readmedium.com/v2/resize:fit:800/1*Gb20epe-3__TUDMl3EfBDQ.jpeg"><figcaption>Another bad guy about to be lazer beamed in half (Image Credit: 505 Games)</figcaption></figure><p id="a0fd">Thankfully you also have some special abilities which can be your equalizer against tough enemies such as a laser blast (I forget its proper name) which will literally slice through any poor bad guys caught in its path, it’s very handy! Oh and how could I forget the Boss battles. Now they are so damn tough, but once you crack their movement paterns and the best offence against them, there is nothing more rewarding than you taking them down and seeing that sweet achievment pop up on screen! ahhhh bliss…now time for a lie down.</p><figure id="6cd9"><img src="https://cdn-images-1.readmedium.com/v2/resize:fit:800/1*dCNXPKAmPvW80vghmF_r3w.jpeg"><figcaption>Your trusty Katana in action against enemies is like poetry in motion (Image Credit: 505 Games)</figcaption></figure><h1 id="b426">Its not just all hack and slash…</h1><p id="dbbc">There is also some light RPG elements where you can get upgrade chips to unlock new abilities to make your cybernetic Samurai even more deadly so it pays to be vigilant when wall running through the city to pick up these valuable upgrades!</p><figure id="d740"><img src="https://cdn-images-1.readmedium.com/v2/resize:fit:800/1*dFky6lEc_bSrdie6uqF_Gg.jpeg"><figcaption>One of the many challenging unique Parkour style levels (Image Credit: 505 Games)</figcaption></figure><p id="272c">Visually on PS5 the game runs fantastic and is a real looker with a stunning cyberpunk aesthetic! The game will force you to get your thinking cap on to unlock puzzles to find your next move through the location and there’s even a motorbike, when your playing through those levels it legit can make you feel a bit of motion sickness as it’s so intense and so well created! My Game of the Year 2023 is one you haven’t played but should…

Now the dust has settled on this years Game Awards I thought it was time for me to tell you my Game of the year, which didnt even make it onto the nominees list for this years Game Awards! I am also pretty sure many of you will have not played as it is not a Huge triple A release like most of this years nominees were, and heck even I'm surprised as this I'm vouching for as my game of the year is not usually my kind of game.

2023 was a great year for gamers, which is why I don't want this game to get lost in the shuffle.

After so many incredible releases this years, its tough for games to not get forgotten about when the next big release rolls around. Therefore I am going to go for a game which I feel didn’t get the hype it deserved even though it did do well with reviews, so drumroll please……my pick for game of the year is… Ghostrunner 2!

Even I was surprised by Ghostrunner 2.

Now let me tell you I was shocked how hooked I was on this game as I played it a lot on and off live stream! Why this surprised me as this is a Souls like game (spoiler alert I don’t like souls like games, I know you probably love Elden Ring as everyone does but sorry there not my usual go to game type) in terms of its difficulty, the constant dying and retrying approach to defeat tough as nails enemy’s. In the case of Ghost Runner 2 this souls like gameplay loop is during super fast samurai vs bad guys with guns fights… Excellent. It really can be spectacular at moments!
