My First Week on Medium
Shout out to Shelby Church and Zulie Rane

Long story short, my place of full-time employment where I sell wine and liquor has a two-week shutdown period every July. This typically leaves me 16 days to travel to a city I have never been before. However with the deadly “Bud Light Bacteria” hitting the USA pretty hard across the country, I, along with many others, have been quarantining and stuck at home.
This left me with plenty of free time and not much to do, so I finally decided to join the Medium platform (S/O to Shelby Church for her YouTube video detailing her experience). I would consider myself a pretty average writer; I have certainly put in countless hours writing academic papers and journal as a hobby. However, I ultimately joined because I felt like I have a ton of unique knowledge and perspectives, but did not yet have the proper platform to share it all.
Organization. Exercise. Sports. Men’s Fashion. The Asian-American experience. Emotional well being. Personal finance. Christian faith. First generation college graduate. The University of Notre Dame. Wine and spirits. Food. Travel. Family. Friendship. These are just a few of the things I am passionate about.
The whole process of signing up was relatively easy, but I definitely had a “Now what?…” moment upon creating the account. This is where I found Zulie Rane . Zulie has a YouTube channel and she dives into writing, curating, publishing, etc and unveiled some of the mysteries across Medium. I highly recommend any rookies, like me, to watch a few of her videos before putting pen to paper (or fingers on keyboard, I guess).
At the moment of uploading this story, I am a writer for two publications (The Capital and Illumination) and have written 5 articles. More importantly though, I am writing about what I love & enjoy and that makes all of this effort worth it. I am excited for the journey and look forward to learning even more from the talented individuals all over Medium.
Thank you for joining me on this ride!
