My First Snow Experience

Reflections on Winter and Snow

The first time I saw snow, I was 18 years old. I still recall that day. I was a freshman in college, and my friends and I decided to go to the mountains, where it had recently snowed.

It felt amazing when I had snow on my hands for the first time. Yes, It was cold, and we hardly slept all night, but I had a great time.

That day I fell in love with the mountains and the snow. Although it's cold, hard to fall asleep, and everything is frozen outside, there is this joy in being in the mountains and simply enjoying life.

Reflecting as I Grow Older

Looking back now, I realize how time flies. It's from February 2015, almost eight years ago. I was 18 at the time. Now I am 26.

Life has certainly not been easy, but I learned many lessons along the way and met many people overall; I did an excellent job, especially in the last few years, building the life I want to live.

Traveling is now a priority in my life. I fell in love with the mountains after backpacking to a few places last year. I realize how important it is to experience life to its fullest and push oneself every day.

Yes, things will get tough, and you will want to give up or might never start because you are scared, but you must believe in yourself because if you won’t believe in yourself, who will?

Focus on ground zero, the basics, and build yourself from there. Make your foundation strong.

Be strong in your mind.

Be strong in your body.

Be strong in your spirit.

Break all the chains of fears that lies in your mind and live your life to the fullest.

2022 was a year where I made things happen for myself, and 2023 is now all about consistency.

Baby Steps Forward

I remember this beautiful quote from BoJack Horseman, which I used to watch back in 2020 while I was depressed and filled with self-loathing, being a victim in my head and constantly reminding myself of all the awful choices I made in my life.

I blamed people, circumstances, and situations for what happened to me, but now I don’t do that any longer.

I realized that if I want to live with freedom and peace, I need to let go and look ahead but live in the present.

Anyway, the quote goes like this:

“Every day it gets a little easier… But you gotta do it every day — that’s the hard part. But it does get easier.”

I’ve come a long way since my first snow experience, since then, a lot of snow came in every winter, and a lot of winters came into my life.

One thing changed, though, I am better at walking in the snow now, comfortable with the cold, and I don’t wish for the winter to go away, but I let it live its course and move on.

I welcome snowy winters and warm summers with open arms and no judgments but stay true and equanimous towards all that lies ahead.
