My first month on Amazon KDP

I had heard about Amazon KDP for a while now. I did my research and decided to sign up. Signing up was easy. I started writing my novel immediately.

I was doing research, I ran across KDP low content publishing. I gave that a try. I now have 25 KDP low content books published. When I started out. I used pre-made interiors and made my own book covers.

I started out using Canva Pro, which is very easy to use. I love Canva! Then I discovered Book Bolt. They have a lot of helpful products. The tools I love the most are product search, keywords, and cloud. These allow you to research different niches. You can find a topic that is not saturated. The keywords help a lot also.

The main thing I discovered about KDP low content publishing is. It is much more profitable to design your own interiors, instead of a pre-made interior. There are so many books with the same interiors. Same book — different covers.

I have found several good websites besides Canva and Book Bolt to help me make my own interiors. I use ILovepdf it allows you to edit any pdf, which comes in very useful. I also use CombinePDF. Which enables me to combine any interiors I have made together. I am not an affiliate with any website I may mention in this article.

Another Great find is Bookow. You can download custom book cover templates that work with KDP. You can download them to Canva to ensure your book covers are accurate.

How successful have KDP low content books been for me

At first, it was slow. I almost stopped doing it until I discovered Book Bolt and started searching for niches. I researched the niches and started making my own interiors, and things took off. I have sold many books so far.

I love making book covers and my own interiors. I will keep this going. I have so many ideas of books to make that are my own and not pre-made like a lot of the KDP low content books are. It has been a great passive income source.

The first two weeks I made no sales. After deciding to make my own interiors, I have made 60$ in royalties. I know that doesn’t seem like a lot of money. This new venture on KDP low-content books is brand new for me. It took way longer than two weeks for me to make 60$ on Medium.

What’s next

I am still writing my novel and plan on independently publishing it as soon as it is finished. Very excited and can’t wait!

I also have a friend who has published in Kindle Vella. She has had great success. The program is exciting, and I have started writing another story to be published there.

Final thoughts

There are many youtube videos and information online on ways to make KDP low content books. I have found if you make your own interiors, they sell much faster. Researching niches and keywords will help a lot. Create your own books, make them your own and not a copy of someone else’s.

I will update my progress as I go along. This has been a fantastic journey.
