My First Month of Earnings on Medium

So, I just completed my first full month on the Medium.com platform! I am so glad I came across this website. I have been having a great time writing about whatever the heck I feel like writing about at any given time! WRITER’S FREEDOM!

I still have many things to learn on this site, but feel like I am steadily making progress. I actually joined Medium in December 2023, but it was at the very end of the month, so we will just say January 2024 was my first month writing on here. Here is a brief rundown of my “Newbie Production” in January 2024:

Published Articles: 21 Views: 179 Reads: 77 Most Views of One Article: 20 Most Reads of One Article: 10 Highest Paying Article: $1.93 Total Earnings: $7.16

I must say, it has been a thrill to earn over $7 in one month. Sounds funny, though, right? Heck, just the other week, I won $300 in a football bet (it’s now legal to bet on games in Florida), which was a great feeling, no doubt! With that said, I felt more ecstatic making $7 for a month’s worth of writing than making $300 for sitting on a couch for 3 hours watching a game. It just means so much more when the money comes directly from the work of your creative mind!

As of February 7, 2024, I have already met half of the above numbers that I attained for the entire prior month, so things are going along smoothly right now. I look forward to seeing my earnings grow. Even more important, though, I look forward to writing quality content as I continue engaging with some other amazing and kind writers on this platform!

I will be honest. When I first joined this site, I was just looking to read and comment on other people’s stories when I thought the favor would be returned. I no longer have that approach. I now find myself reading other writer’s work without even worrying about a “return favor.” I truly enjoy reading creative and original content from others. I can’t believe it took me this long to find about this site!

So, let’s see if I can make my next goal, which is $20 in earnings for the month of February 2024. Regardless of the money I make, I feel like I have already succeeded! This site has given me motivation to bring back my “Writer’s Mojo.”

I have many writing goals, as I hope to finish a book as well as a screenplay in 2024. Before joining Medium, I was having my doubts on completing these objectives, but now that I have gotten myself back in the writing mode on Medium, I feel much more confident in meeting those goals. I have been able to get back in a rhythm of writing at least three times a week. I can feel my engine start to warm up again! It feels great! Let’s gooo!
