My First and Only Visit to a Chiropractor

I’ve never experienced such pain

My husband goes to a chiropractor occasionally when he has back or neck pain. He said he feels so much better after his appointments. He thinks his chiropractor is the greatest.

I’ve always been skeptical of chiropractors. I’ve heard stories about people ending up with more pain after they leave than when they first arrived.

I was having some back pain from moving furniture around the house, and my husband kept trying to convince me to visit his chiropractor. He said my pain would be gone as soon as I left. I finally agreed to see the chiropractor, but was still skeptical.

When I arrived, the chiropractor seemed pretty harmless. He was young and very friendly. He did his thing, which was to move my body around and I could feel some bones pop. I didn’t feel any pain at all. When I left, I was feeling like a fool because I had been so hesitant about going in to see him.

I drove to work and was feeling fine. About 2 hours later, I went to the bathroom. Suddenly my back felt very stiff and I couldn’t get up from the toilet seat. I sat there in the bathroom until I heard someone come into the office. Since my husband and I work at the same place, I was hoping it was him.

I called out his name, and yes, it was him. Thank God!! I told him I couldn’t move. He came into the bathroom and lifted me to a standing position. Then he pulled up my pants and underwear.

He said he was taking me home. He went out and brought the car right to the office door. He helped me walk to the car and drove me home.

I stayed in bed for about 2 or 3 days. Getting up to use the bathroom was pure torture for me. He would have to pick me up to a sitting position in the bed, with me screaming the whole time. Then he would walk me to the bathroom and lift me up when I was finished. Same routine as the office.

It just so happens that my son was having back pain at the same time also. He was on the drumline at school, and playing the quads was causing havoc on his back. He was sent home and couldn’t return until he had a doctor’s release.

My husband took him to the urgent care, where they prescribed pain meds for him. I took some of his meds for my pain, and we both were pain-free within 2 days.

My husband was feeling very guilty because he was the one who encouraged me to see the chiropractor. He still goes to see him when he has back pain, but I will never go back.
