My First 2 Months on Medium
My results and lessons learned.

I’m still a firm believer in slow and steady wins the race. Nowadays it’s more like slow and steady wins the Medium race.
When I first joined Medium a little over two months ago, I didn’t know what to expect. All I knew was that I could make money writing and publishing my work every day. Great! But I didn’t know much else.
I dove into the rough waters of Medium and I’ve been swimming ever since. Now, the swim has become much relaxing, but still plenty of hard work.
One major lesson I learn early on writing on Medium, and thank God I did, is that you can’t rush the process. Like life, one will continue to grow on Medium, in terms of money made, views, reads and fans.
That’s what happen to me.
All of My Stats Keep Increasing
In the last two weeks of February 2021, I earned the following:
- 484 reads
- 19 fans
During that time, I also wrote 34 articles, gained 79 followers and earned $3.08. Not too shabby for a rookie’s first two weeks.
During March, my first full month on Medium, I earned the following:
- 501 reads
- 188 fans
During that time, I also wrote 68 articles, gained 98 followers and earned $8.07. Again, not too shabby.
Even though we are still in April, my stats for this month are looking good. So far, I have earned the following:
- 717 reads
- 203 fans.
So far, too, I have written 34 articles, gained 71 followers and earned $8.59.
These are just prime examples about my Medium theory.
Slow and Steady Wins the Medium Race
If you think you’re going to find immediate success on Medium making $100 a month or gaining 1,000 followers, think again. It could happen to you, but it’s not guaranteed.
Instead, you have to be patient with your results. With mine, they are slowly increasing and in many ways, that’s how I like it. It’s nice to be at the ground floor because the only other way to go is up.
In order for slow and steady to win your Medium race, remember:
- Write every day.
- Publish most days, if not every day.
- Meet other fellow writers.
- Engage in other stories.
- Enjoy the process.
Closing Thoughts
Medium is by now means a race against others, but rather yourself. Continue to battle yourself and keep bettering yourself each month.
You may slip up a couple months, but so as you’re following the tips above, you will no doubt find your Medium success.
Who knows, maybe one day you’re destined to make $100 or $1,000 a month on here or become the next Tim Denning or Shaunta Grimes. You will never know unless you try, and start today.
Happy writing!
