Top Stories by Tree Langdon ♾️

A mysterious inheritance, psychedelics, running away, and gaming

One of the most difficult things for a writer to do is choose their Top Ten stories.

No matter how you slice it, there’s always going to be a story you really wish you could include, even though you don’t consider it to be your ‘best’ writing.

I could have chosen my ten best stories by ranking the views on Medium or selecting from curated stories. I decided not to limit my choices in that way.

I’ve selected the stories I love the most.

1. Hands down, this one is my favorite. It’s a short fiction about a young woman deciding to stand up for herself.

2. I love this one because it’s the beginning of an epic novel I want to write. A young woman receives an unexpected inheritance.

3. There was a time in my life when I drove myself too hard, and this is what happened.

4. When I took creative writing classes at our local college, I realized that someone who plays a lot of online games has a brain that works in a different way than mine.

5. Here’s a very personal story. It’s about my mother, and it’s also about a time in an emergency room when I had to make some serious decisions.

6. This is the true story of how I met the love of my life in kindergarten.

7. My family has always been avid readers. It surprised me when I discovered learning how to read can have a negative effect on traditional storytelling.

8. In this short story, you will meet Piper. She’s a young woman who takes a chance and runs away with a stranger.

9. Students who experimented with psychedelic drugs in the ’60s at Berkeley became a writer, an expert on religion, a psychiatrist, and religious leaders.

10. I chose this story because it reminds me of the time I studied world religion at college. It’s important to understand and accept each other’s differences.

I hope you enjoyed reading these stories as much as I enjoyed writing them.
