My Favorite Music After My Psychedelic Awakening

DJ Lady, created by author with hotpot.ai

I used to be surrounded by chart music while working at a big radio station. Listening to our radio program was part of my job, and the same kind of music played at events I attended. Initially disliking most of these songs, the repetition gradually made me appreciate them.

At that time, I had no idea about the influential power of programmed lyrics and music or the frequency commonly used in commercial music production, especially in pop music. Despite feeling more irritable due to this frequency, I wasn’t aware of its impact on my mind.

When I met my partner, I delved deeper into Metal music. I was drawn to its chaotic approach and energetic vibe, but eventually, that phase also came to an end. Nonetheless, I still enjoy revisiting some of those songs occasionally.

Through various psychedelic events and phases of microdosing, my musical tastes continued to evolve. Eventually, I reached a point where I couldn’t tolerate pop music anymore. Its effect on me became unsettling and bothersome, so I actively avoid it nowadays.

Music has always been a part of my life; I grew up playing instruments and singing in a choir. Singing, in particular, feels therapeutic, aiding in my healing journey and helping me open my throat chakra.

But let’s get straight to the point now.

What I’m Listening to Now

I love the sounds of shamanic drumming and the soothing tones of healing bowls, handpan music, and Bwiti music. I was introduced to Bwiti tribal music for the first time during my Iboga ceremony and immediately felt connected to it.

If you’re curious about what I mean exactly, here are some examples that I found on YouTube:

There’s still a few artists I like to follow and whose songs I love to sing or dance to: Iniko, Ummet Ozcan X Otyken Altay, Lindsey Stirling, and The Hu. I admire these vibes. I guess there is one pop song in an acoustic version that I also should mention as I love the message: Sam Ryder — Tiny Riot (Live Acoustic).

Snippet of the Lyrics of Sam Ryder-Tiny Riot

Take the music, learn to use it Turn it up ’til your speakers blow fuses Learn the rhythm, but never lose it Keep on movin’ ’til you know what the truth is If butterflies can use their wings to turn the wind to hurricanes You and I can break the chains and tase today

To start a tiny riot Stop being so goddamn quiet Got a spark in your heart, so strike it Crush your way up here Turn the pourin’ rain to a tidal wave and fight it There’s so many, so don’t hide it Like dynamite ignitin’ Crush your way up here Turn the pourin’ rain to the wave of a tiny riot

Snippet of the Lyrics Iniko-Jericho

I’m high, I’m from outer space I got Milky Way for blood, evolution in my vein I’m gone, I’ve been far away I’ma lumineer now, makin’ moves, startin’ waves I’ve been dreaming about flying for a long time I had a vision from the grey’s, they wanna co-sign Artificially intelligent, new-AI I’m your future, past and present, I’m the fine line

Yeah, I’m a missing link of this illusion I am not really here, I’m an intrusion I don’t swim or sink, I just float I don’t need gravity, I just need growth

When I move, it’s an earthquake rumble I will never, ever fall, never stumble And I don’t need to be humble Break down walls like Jericho, crumble

Particularly, the song Jericho from Iniko has become one of my favourites, I especially love singing the acapella version. I also love dancing to Lindsey Stirling’s amazing music, along with all the others I’ve mentioned.

Music has been a significant part of my life and has held a special place in my heart for as long as I can remember.

But as you can see, my taste in music has changed drastically.

Now you know what I listen to nowadays. My psychedelic journey has undeniably had a profound impact on this musical development.
