My Favorite 3 Posts on Mental Health
The stories featuring mental health that meant the most to me this week.

Mental health is one of my passion topics. Maybe it’s because I face each day with bipolar disorder or because I see so many others suffering. It’s a subject we all need to be talking about.
When you’re coping with a mental illness, you need all the help you can get. I dedicate most of my reading time to this subject, though I also love poetry, short stories, and anything personal development related.
Here’s three stories that resonated with me this week.
The Misconceptions of Mental Health
Kim McKinney’s words spoke to me in this post. She takes the time to explain the thought process behind a lot of mental illness misconceptions and why they are wrong.
There’s also a wonderful bullet list that includes her observations about mental illness. I could have highlighted every line, be cause they are all 100-percent accurate, but no one wants to be that guy. If you want to better understand mental illness, read this story.
Are You Beautifully Broken?
What does success look like when you have a mental illness? It’s hard to define since most often we set our own bar. Sometimes it’s as hard as getting a coveted job, while other times it’s just a matter of getting out of bed.
The following piece from Jason Weiland affected me because of his openness of talking about how mental illness damaged his life, but ultimately how he’s a success. He’s beautifully broken, as so many of us are.
Writing My Way Out of the Fog
Do you ever feel lost in the fog? Both mental and chronic illness tend to roll in like a thick cloud to blur your mind and day. Writing can be the way out.
This story by Matti Hiott shares her experience of where she was in the fog and how writing is helping her to clear away the fog. It can help you, too.
Bonus Post — What If I Told You That I Can Give You Happiness…
I know I’m only supposed to share three stories, but I couldn’t leave out this post from Leandro Teixeira about happiness. All of us are striving to find happiness wherever we can find it, and I love how Leandro describes the truth about the emotion. You’ll be happier reading this story.
The stories above are a few of my favorite posts from the last few days. Have you enjoyed a post recently about mental health? Please share it in the comments below.
Until next time, keep fighting.
