My Earnings On Medium in January of 2022

After eleven months of writing

After joining the Medium Partner Program back in October of 2021 I intend to share every month what my earnings and statistics were.

I do this to encourage others to continue to write and publish.

I genuinely believe we all have valuable lessons and experiences to share, and to my mind, Medium is a great platform for that.

So how much have I earned this month?

To give you a little bit of context these were my earnings in the prior three months:

January was my fourth month with the MMP and so I obtained:

663.58 dollars.

My views:

My reads:

And this is a portion of my earnings through the referred members program or we can also call it affiliates program:

  • $51.43

Now here are four genuine great lessons I learned in the past eleven months:

1. Be patient

New bloggers have no patience. Most bloggers can’t keep grinding for years before giving up. But, that’s how long it takes to succeed. Don’t get into this industry if you’re not willing to put 1–2 years of your life behind it. — Shaun Poore

And as Nicole Martins highlights in one of her posts about passive income: “The secret to creating a successful blog or YouTube channel or podcast, is creating content on a consistent schedule for a long time. That’s it. If you stick with it for the long haul, you’ll eventually start reaping the passive income rewards.”

Remember is a long-term game.

2. Be consistent

To be successful at anything, you don’t need to be different. You simply have to be what most people aren’t: CONSISTENT.

The vast majority of writers wrote hundreds of stories during several months or years before they earned big profits.

A great example of this is Sinem Günel. She joined Medium in July of 2018, and after two years in July of 2020, she earned $11,163.62 in one month.

Her $11k month was no coincidence.

“I’ve been writing and publishing almost daily for the past seven months and had several pieces going viral. I made more than $5k three times in 2020 until I finally hit my target of $10k”, she explained in one of her posts.

“When I made +$10,000 in a single month on Medium, I had already published 350 articles. At least 100 of them sucked because I had no idea what I was doing. It took time, two years, to be precise, but it was no magic.”— Sinem Günel

3. Explore the possibilities

The platform is open. You aren't obliged to write about one specific subject.

You can play about with different stories and see which ones work for you best.

In my case, for instance, I write pretty much about navigating the dating realm, however, I also like sharing other experiences or lessons I’ve learned in other aspects of my life, this article, writing about my earnings on Meidum is an example of that.

In fact my most popular article with 50 thousand views, the one that generated me the most profits wasn't about dating, but about passive income sources.

If I had only stuck to dating and relationships pieces, in other words to my “niche” then I wouldn't have dared to write that article and I wouldn’t have earned over 500 dollars with only that one piece alone.

4. Be a lifelong learner

Related to exploring the possibilities I continuously attempt to learn something new and as a result, later on, I blog about what I’ve learned.

Here on Medium or on another platform, you can find brilliant, marvelous, and truly inspirational posts.

Plus YouTube is perpetually there to educate us on a vast array of topics, we also have awesome podcasts we can listen to while we commute to work, exercise, clean the house or go for a long walk.

And my favorite ones: we have books! There are such great books for you to read, some even life-changing.

To conclude

Read and create good and valuable content. Enjoy the writing.

Write because writing is a form of self-care and self-love.

“Be persistent whether the time is favorable or unfavorable…carry out your ministry fully.”

In closing, keep in mind that in most cases, you will need to produce a lot until you see significant results, it doesn't happen overnight.
