“I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all, I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing.” — Agatha Christie

I know you are young and full of energy. You will probably be distracted by too many things you hear on the internet. You have to be ready for marketing, grow your followers, and have a constant online presence. Along with that, you will be working on having your own voice that makes the author stand out from the crowd.

Your focus for now, would be on-

  1. Creating content for online media
  2. Constant presence online
  3. Gaining followers
  4. Finding your target audience
  5. Growing your newsletter

You are completely new and the moment you step out of college, you will be pulled in different directions.

I know the anxiety, thinking about the future brings too much burden on our shoulders and we really don’t know what to do.

But, I need to tell you that whatever you do, the first step should be to complete at least three books before you step into this online world.

Why 3 books?

Because once you get into this marketing game, you won’t be having much time left in your hands. You will realize that there are more things than just writing.

Slowly you’ll get into marketing.

Then you’ll juggle your time between various social media platforms.

And then as you are young, you won’t have some time for yourself?

This will all be so confusing for you after some time that chances are that you’ll feel like quitting. This happens to every author including you and me.

When you don’t have many burdens of money and marketing, the flow of the story will be easy for you. Now is the perfect time for you to use your emotions and write those 3 perfect books. Every other thing than writing can wait.

My simple advice -

  1. Pick a genre of your choice.
  2. Complete 3 books.
  3. And then get into marketing.

Follow these simple steps.

This is the only way I did. And this is the best advice I can give for absolute beginners out there.
