My Day Trading Income Exceeded my Regular Income for a 5th Year
This is the 5th year in a row I have earned more from Day Trading than I have working my 9–5. I still have zero plans to quit my job.
For the fifth consecutive year, my journey in day trading has reached a significant milestone: my income from day trading has once again surpassed what I earn from my regular 9–5 job. While it is not my best year in terms of returns it still always presents me with the same question each year. Do I quit my job?
This achievement, while noteworthy, hasn’t swayed my decision to continue with my career. I work for an incredible organization that I have no intention of leaving. Instead, this financial success in trading is shaping my future in exciting and meaningful ways.

Balancing Day Trading with a Fulfilling Career
You might wonder why I choose to stay in my job when day trading has proven so lucrative. The answer lies in the fulfillment I derive from my career. It offers more than just a guaranteed salary: a sense of purpose, professional growth, and the benefits that comes with working in a team. Day trading, while financially rewarding, is a solitary endeavor and cannot replace these aspects of a traditional job.
How I am Making this Money Work
One of a few plans I have in the coming year(s) is to invest some of my day trading income in holiday let on one of my favourite lochs in my home country. I plan on spending over 10 weekends a year, getting away from the city, surrounding myself in the natural beauty that such a location offers.
The rest of the year, the property will be rented out. This not only makes financial sense but also allows others to experience the beauty of the location.
Financial Prudence: Paying Off Debts and Investing
Another aspect of my financial strategy involves increasing contributions to my Vanguard account. This step signifies a commitment to long-term financial security and growth. Additionally, a portion of my trading income is allocated to paying off remaining debts. This approach ensures a balanced use of the extra income — part enjoyment, part sensible financial planning.
Day Trading: A Tool for Financial Freedom
My experience in day trading has been more than just a source of additional income. It has become a tool for achieving financial freedom and realizing dreams that seemed distant. The success in trading has given me the flexibility to make choices that align with both my immediate and long-term goals.
