My Daughters — They Amaze Me

So different, each uniquely herself

My girls are often the topic of articles I share here, which makes perfect sense, since they are my biggest joy in life.

My oldest will be 19 this spring, and she is busily building her own life. I love watching her explore the world, and each decision she makes, even the ones I don’t agree with, makes me so proud of her.

She tries hard to do the right thing, to help people and make them feel loved. She’s a sensitive soul, but outgoing and vivacious, and she’s stronger than she thinks.

She is housesitting for a friend at the moment, and her absence gives a bit of a prequel to what life will be like when she is out of the house, leaving only the little one to bounce around.

I love that she gets these bursts of freedom, where she doesn’t have to answer to me or her dad. She is in complete control. The fact that she gets these trial periods before she takes the step of moving out is a good thing, I think, for all of us.

I will miss her so much when she decides it’s time, but for her, I can’t wait. I remember well the excitement of moving out and being on my own, making decisions and being in the real world.

Of course, I was married at 18, so I never really had much actual independence.

I hope she doesn’t follow that example. So far, so good. :D

The little one is currently writing a story she wants me to share with you guys here on Medium, so please be on the lookout for that later tonight. I hope y’all can offer her some support.

She is in her first year of middle school and trying to figure out who she wants to be.

She is currently writing her first novel as well, which has a pretty epic storyline, if I do say so myself. And I do.

She misses her sister when she isn’t home, so I love that she is finding ways to express herself.

All of us here certainly know how valuable it can be to spill all the built-up emotions onto a page, whether it be via fiction or non-fiction pieces.

Anyway . . . in case you didn’t already “hear” the message of this particular post, I love these girls (young women), and watching them grow into who they want to be is one of the best things I can possibly imagine. :)
