My Daily Shower

grateful for these blessings — a poem

Grateful For my Shower

Everyday is not the same

and every night

can be different

every morning brings

new challenges

and every night

leaves different scars

yes, that’s the game,

that life plays with us,

a challenging game,

and, that’s also

the name

of life that we live.

In life,

nothing is sure

nothing remains,

but the certainty of

somethings,

the presence

of something in life,

make it worth living.

And there are

things in mine

that I value

more than

power, money or fame,

that I’m

so grateful for!

things that are too small

that some would think

are insignificant,

but that I claim

are the blessings,

Yes, I am grateful

for my shower,

it is refreshing,

it wakes me up

taking me in its bosom

it soothes my senses

it caresses my worries away

it smooths me

it keeps me clean

and healthy

and ready

to take on challenges

“you can do it”

it tells me

it gives me courage,

a great start to

no matter what type of day

is ahead,

and it ends the night,

no matter how bad it was!

In response to Sahil Patel’s prompt for the third week of April, Grateful.

Write a poem on the things you are grateful for in life. A poem that you can read every day to start a new day with possibilities and hope. Write a poem about something, that gives you a reason to wake up every morning”.

As long as I can have a shower, I believe, I can survive any day. I think about people who don’t have these facilities, war torn places, people displaced, not having usual amenities, their routine disrupted, and I am grateful every morning, that I can have a shower.

Thanks Sahil Patel and Lifeline, that I can submit my poems, and also expect them to be read, and appreciated.
