My Current Projects: Some Inside Info Into the Fan-Fics, Scripts and Stories I’m working on.

I’ll be documenting and sharing my progress

As I mentioned in my first article/post here on Medium, part of my journey and goal when joining the platform was to share my experiences as a new writer and create my own works of fiction.

And y’know…keep me accountable.

As part of that accountability, I want to fill y’all in on what I have going on.

Project Disrespect

I’m a massive fan of the 6'8 gaming great. His streams have gotten me through many a rough workday.

His over-the-top, arrogant, and competitive demeanor reminds me of the Hulk Hogan era of WWF, and the beauty of his character is that the fiction for many of Doc’s “adventures” was created by his community— and is ripe for exploration.

The lore surrounding the origins of his mustache, mythically named “The Ethiopian Poisonous Caterpillar,” aka “Slick Daddy,” is one such piece of fiction that begs to be written about.

And if you’re ever in his streams and you read or hear rumblings of the “Ethiopian Poisonous Caterpillar,” you need only input a few keystrokes into the chat…

…and Nightbot will fill you in on how to get a “caterpillar” of your own.

Once I caught wind of this legendary journey made by the two-time back-to-back blockbuster video game champion and international video gaming superstar—I knew I had to write a story about it.

Obviously, It’ll be fan fiction, and as much as I love the doctor’s official telling of the tale, I will add my own spin to the origin story.

I’m still undecided on whether it will be a short story or a script, but this is what I have so far:

Plot:

A relentless pursuit for a rare and poisonous caterpillar leads Dr. Disrespect through treacherous challenges against the nefarious Purple Snakes, culminating in a life-changing victory.

The feel of it:

• Folkloric Cyberpunk Science Fiction: Science fiction that integrates traditional folk stories and legends into cyberpunk settings.

I even have an outline all written up.

Ok, so that’s that—let’s move on!

Project Maelstrom (screenplay)

Every writer’s got to have a universe to play in right?

Welp, this one is going to be mine. It's been in my brain for a long time, and I’ve been working on getting the outline into a good place.

Plot:

When two brothers stumble upon a conspiracy orchestrated by a thought-to-be-vanquished clan, they find themselves drawn into a fierce struggle to safeguard their city.

Uncovering a plan to resurrect an ancient evil, the siblings not only face external threats but also grapple with revelations about their own clan’s history.

As the battle unfolds, they are forced to question their beliefs, realizing that their lineage holds secrets that could betray everything they thought they knew.

I’ve been working on this one here and there and will focus on this story once my writing skills level up a bit more. It’s the first in a series, so I want to knock out the other two projects to get some experience under my belt first.

Ok…and lastly…!

Project Sonarhythm (Sci-Fi short story)

This was a random idea for a story I thought up while learning about binaural beats, music played at a certain frequency designed to relax you.

Why was I researching that?

I have no idea.

I somehow found myself in that rabbit hole.

Anyhoo!

I never felt that supposed “relaxing” effect but it got me thinking…

What if certain types of music granted people different abilities depending on the genre?

It also got me thinking about the epic battle in Scott Pilgrim Saves the World when he battles the Katayanagi Twins.

It also brought to mind Air Gear—I'm not sure if anyone’s watched that anime.

I’m curious if I can make a short noir story around the premise of “musical warfare” work.

We’ll see!

I even thought up a nice little premise of sorts:

In a gritty, urban future, this story melds noir’s shadowy atmosphere with fantasy and advanced tech, centering around “Sonarhythm,” a special music genre that grants extraordinary powers, manipulates emotions, and enhances human abilities, creating a world where magic and technology intertwine.

That’s what I have cooking.
