Summary

Hollie Petit shares a humorous anecdote about her expressive dog, Leibe, who was loud and obnoxious enough to be expelled from doggie behavioral training, during a peaceful hike in Estes Park, Colorado, that turned into a comical doggie tantrum.

Abstract

In a personal narrative titled "My Cantankerous Dog," Hollie Petit recounts an incident involving her dog, Leibe, whose name ironically means "love" in German. Despite Leibe's disruptive behavior, which led to her dismissal from dog training, Petit finds her loud and obnoxious mannerisms endearing, especially during a hike near Rocky Mountain National Park. The serene walk turned chaotic when Leibe began a series of piercing barks, yet Petit remained amused and in good spirits. The story is part of the "6-Word Photo Story Summer Challenge," for which Petit expresses gratitude to Mary Chang Story Writer for the invitation to participate. Additionally, Petit extends an invitation to readers to join Medium through her referral link, emphasizing the benefits of membership for both readers and writers.

My Cantankerous Dog

The 6-Word Photo Story Summer Challenge

Tell me how you really feel.

My dog, Leibe (German for “love”), never refrains from telling me how she feels. She is loud and obnoxious — two qualities that got her kicked out of doggie behavioral training.

Although her name may appear ironic, she really is a joy — at least most of the time, when she is not yelling at me.

On this day, we walked around one of our favorite mountains in Estes Park — just on the outskirts of Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. We lived down the street a few miles and could easily access this location. What started out as a peaceful hike turned into a doggie tantrum, which was particularly amusing to me. Even the piercing barks could not wreck the mood.

Thank you, Mary Chang Story Writer, for tagging me in your challenge.
